Budget 2500K First Time Build

I got it used for £30. The newer ones do have a cutout, the old ones doesn't. This is something I overlooked back when I bought the case.

Yes, £30(including shipping) is not to bad considering you got 5 fans there as well.

I had one fan in my case and and bought one silent Xsilence Red Wing fan which was about £4. I have only 2 fans in my case at the moment, but heat is not a problem- I have overclocked both CPU and GPU (manually, auto OC is hotter) and both run under 70C on full load.

Well, the case wasn't far from me so I collected. 3 of the fans that came with it (2 front, 1 side) are LED fans but they are ridiculously loud. I can't believe he was actually using them, must've had some reject dud fans that he threw in to try to sweeten the deal. I've taken them out and just running the top and back stock Antec fans on low. I haven't stress tested or OC'd yet but heat hasn't been a problem yet.

I've read that Antec fans tend to be louder than most, but yours must have their hydro bearing worn out. A lot of fans use those bearings nowadays because of they are relatively quiet, but the downside is they wear out quicker. Also LED fans tend to be noisier than non LED for all makes it seems.

I am also running one fan on bottom front and one on upper back of the case and it seems to be enough.

I've also cut out fine mesh pieces to cover all the vents in the case and this seems to eb working very nicely- no dust at all in my case after 2 months:)

The Antec fans seem fine. They're quieter than the stock cooler so I don't really hear them at all, especially with the case under the desk.

The noisy fans are some Akasa fans. Truly horrible. Must be worn bearings like you said.

Oh and I went back a few chapters in Deus Ex. I had no explosives at all, and with no augs either I just wasn't getting anywhere with Namir. I probably just suck at these games too. In the beginning, I was creating new save points for most new chapters or big events. But I stopped and just kept replacing save points after a while. Unfortunately, the last save point was just before the last boss, that girl. So I've started from there and I'm back in Detroit again. But this time I'm buying up tonnes of explosives and I'm not going to get that replacement chip.

Also, I saw there's a trick where you can bring up a hacked turret with you in the lift and use it against Namir. Unfortunately I blew that turret up instead of hacking. This time I will hack. :p

Yeah, even on easy, I couldn't do it. Anyway, I've stocked up on explosives, ammo and health boosters. I didn't get the chip upgrade so now I keep my augs. And I've got the turret with me. If I can't beat him now, Odin help me. ;p

I hit him with a frag grenade, and blasted him with the laser while he was stunned. Then ran over to the turret and shot off a few with the shotgun.

Sarif also got on my nerves.

Well, finished it now. Guess I'd better tear down the case and put the cooler on.

You're the scientist, so you cant kill Sarif and put humankind back into dark ages for fear of technology. (Yes you can, its just a game:p)

Did you manage to win the argument with the Humanity Front leader at press conference? I couldn't:) However, I found out that I've missed "Acquaintances Forgotten" side mission, so I have restarted the game from scratch (plot branches in the first mission so that wrong choice makes it inaccessible much later on), so I'll have another go at this press conference too:)

Yeah, you mean Taggert? I won that one. I found out there are several side quests I missed. I did try to do the ones I came across.

I think I'm ready to go on to another game. Arkham City is supposed to be good, but it's nearly £30!

Installed the gelid cpu cooler. Pain in the arse having to take the motherboard out.

Tidied cables and both 2.5" drives up a bit. Cables wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the GPU. I've got one lead that has all the molex plugs on it and I need that out for the GPU, plus the pcie power cable. I'll use extensions once I get a new case, then a better PSU.

Need to test the cooler out now. :)

Yes it is much quieter. :) I can't hear it over the PSU and case fans.

Did some inteliburn stress testing on maximum.

Seems I may have put the TIM on a little unevenly.

Overclock and photos will arrive eventually. ;)

It got to those temps after about 4 minutes or so, then stayed there without going any higher for another 4 minutes so I shut it down.

I never stress tested with the stock cooler, but it would get to those temps just from gaming alone.

Oh, so that's what it is! I also have about 4degrees difference between the cooolest and hottest cores, I thought it was just down to architecture... My max temps are about 70C (OCed, stock were about 60C if I remember right). I run stress tests for 15 minutes though, and temps do pick up after 10+ mins on my cooler (Arctic Freezer something, wish I spent and extra fiver and got yours:( )

I've had up to 9 degrees difference. :(

I re-did it and let if got for about 15 minutes. This intelburn seems to run separate sub-200 second cycles at 100%. Between each cycle temperature drops down about 5-10 degrees for 5-10 seconds, then goes back up again. It doesn't stay at maximum temp/power for 15 solid minutes. What do you use for stress testing?

Hmmm, after 15 minutes the hottest core was 51 degrees. Prime95 (64bit) doesn't seem to be stressing as much as IntelBurn. Prime95 is only drawing about 60 watts whereas IntelBurn got it up to 85 watts.

I do have a pretty cold room though. My feet are always freezing and I often use a microwavable heat bag thing for my feet if I'm sitting for a long time.

Just overclocked to 4.0 GHz and it's still barely reaching the high 50's.

Wattage has jumped from 60 to 80 watts though.
