Bugbear NCG: Wreckfest now has real deal online Multiplayer.

Why are people ignoring the best part of the game..multiplayer.
Tried online multiplayer twice. Waited 5-10 minutes for it to join the server and the next race to start, then got kicked. Second attempt, 5-10 minutes for it to join the game, find everyone is in 100% fully tuned cars that I couldn't compete with so didn't have a whole lot of fun. Found the server browser really clunky too :/

Did enjoy LAN multiplayer with mates a while back though, but don't do that often.

Well when I started playing I enjoyed beating other players who had better cars and ranking up. It’s not about winning races. It’s about the fun you have with other players during and after the races. Racing against bots is utterly soulless.

Also I have never had any issues joining races online. It takes like 10 seconds for me.

I found it to be difficult to find a race. In the evening it was nigh on impossible. Either full up or already a race had begun. So been working my way through the career mode and finding it rather addictive. I've got some real bruisers now for the demolitions that batter anything. Some of the AI is hilarious at the antics they get up to, I look behind quite a lot especially round corners and there is some crazy AI drivers.

This game is a turd.
I have been installing it on and off since I backed it all those years ago and even now it does not feel like a finished product to me. They said it would be like FlatOut which is why I backed it. They flat out lied as FlatOut is a much better game. All I feel like this offers better is graphics. Calling it a turd might be a bit harsh, but it is not far off, as the career mode is a cop out wreck fest imo.

I paid £25 for it in beta. I've found it worth the money. It's like Flatout without the "driver through the windscreen" minigames. Which, I admit, were an amusing extra. I think the release version qualifies as a finished product. Not a top quality one and I wouldn't advise anyone to pay £40 for it, but a finished product.

I've become engrossed in lap time for 1 track with a class C car. After many laps and many tuning configurations I've shaved a couple of seconds off my personal best and ranked 64th, but I'm still ~1.9s slower than the best times on a relatively short and fast course (~41.8 vs ~39.9). Not at all bad for an old fogey playing on keyboard, but I keep going back and trying something slightly different. Which is almost always worse :)

I'm having a surprising amount of fun racing somewhat seriously in it, despite the fact that it's obviously not meant for that.

Bugbear still working on a new PC update ( with bug fixes and some new content ), should be out before Christmas.

Developers alive?

Janne - Nov 8, 2018
Yes, we're still very much alive and working with the game. While the console versions are a priority right now the PC crowd has not been forgotten - you can expect a game update very soon.

Got my Suicide track pack redone and now working with current version of Wreckfest. :)

Been a long 2 year wait since I last got to race my Suicide track pack mod online. Here video of me hosting Suicide and my Fig8 mod online, Nov 10. :D

Also End has added another great custom track to
The Very TrackPack released! mod last week. :D

Every time I see this game I feel let down by what they did with career mode. They said it would be like flatout so they got my backing all those years ago. The only thing fun about this game even in its current state is playing online. Does not hold a candle to flatout ultimate carnage which I recently reinstalled and am playing again.

Out of the 3 Flatout games Bugbear did, Wreckfest is closest to Flatout 1. I played the demo of Flatout 1 and I was hooked and pre-ordered FO1 and brought my first Force Feedback MOMO wheel for it back in 2005. :D

And when I saw my first Folk racing video at Bugbear forum:
