Just got back in to find the wife in tears.

Old Jasper is apparently at the emergency vets on a drip, suspected kidney failure, and a suspected bowel tumour. Had an xray, going to ultrasound. We're waiting to hear :(.

Sorry to hear this - hope he pulls through.

I know all to well how quickly a cat can become part of your family. Our cat "Spike" has been with us 17 years now and he's still kicking. He's twice had his thyroid operation and is on pills every day, drinks only filtered water (for his kidneys) and snores louder than the wife :p

I'm dreading when the inevitable happens to him as my OH will also be in floods of tears - hoping Jasper pulls through for you guys :)

Hope he's ok, had the same with my buddy but not the bowl issue, was very hard to endure and so difficult to let go, especially since it was near 20 years of companionship.

:- (

Lost my cat many years ago myself, he was about 6 years old - all of a sudden just start breathing heavy and the vet said he had fluid on one lung and it'd be best to put him down.

I think the most horrible thing about owning pets is when the time comes, having to make the decision between selfishness and compassion. My elderly Yorkshire terrier is getting to that stage now, and we're having to come to the realisation that we're going to have to make that decision sooner rather than later. It's hard because I know I'm going to be absolutely heart broken.

Jasper looks like an adorable cat mate, and although it was only four years, it's always brilliant to see that he got four years in what's obviously an incredibly loving family and home. :)
