Building my first PC in screenshots

Glad you got it sorted pal.

I will say tho, i'm really am glad i went for one of the all in water cooling units.... the big heatsink CPU blocks look awful imo. Thats not a dig at yours particularly otemu... but CPU coolers as a whole.

Yeah I agree. They are a ridiculous size these days. Give me a Heatkiller anyday. :)

It's the PSU switch he's on about this one:

As you can see in his first picture, it's in the "off" position, however the PC is still turned on.

Just as a confirmation, does your PC boot when it's in the "on" position too? (to make sure it isn't just that the switch was put in/printed the wrong way round)

Yes boots both ways, i tried swapping reset and power that didnt work, turning it around the other way has the exact same effect, the motherbord light turns on immediately when I connect the power cord to the psu regardless of switch position.

Now you tell me hahaha, maybe next buikd I go the watercooling route :D

I would RMA it then, sounds like for some reason the switch isn't wired up (or is shorting to the same effect) in itself it's probably not much of a problem, but that's wrong, you don't know if there's something else that's gone wrong that causing it...

Errr isn't that normal behaviour ?

As soon as you supply power to the machine, the motherboard becomes active (LED lights up on the mobo but nothing else should be on - no fans spinning etc) consider it 'standby mode' but as soon as you hit the power switch on the case then the machine whirls into action all fans spinning, gpu growling ready for L4D.

Switching off via the switch on the PSU should take all power away from the motherboard - The LED on the motherboard will slowly fade away.

Not quite yet, my heart won't be able to take it.

I'm Glad your System now works, I've never seen a PSU that has a current running through it even when the state is off that is very unnusual you need that replacing immediately, I've always heard the best about corsair products so this is worrying to say the least... but OCUK will no doubt sort that out ASAP.

Well everything is fixed now, power issue was caused by power loss setting in the bios, now that all done I don't know what to do, its like all I want to do now is build machines...........

Another pic

Thanks once again everyone for the fantastic support, I guess it the boring installing of software time, but benchmarks could be fun :)

Some people resort to case modding, while others overclocking, and those with money to burn a bit of both! in extreme amounts :P

I find the best way to keep the beast at bay is to go round car boots picking up PC's to fix I love fiddling with old computers and breathing new life into them and seeing a CRT tube warm up into action :D or the fizz crackle and pop when things don't go quite as expected...

How much are you wanting for the board with the broken pin? :D

Overclocking will be the next step for me :)

In regards to the board, make me an offer its Here

That the desk and chair setup

The wires outside the case are a mess, the logitech comes with so much wire. I need to sort that out as it destroys the cable management in the PC, but am being lazy at the moment.

Anyone interested in some benchmarks??

Who needs money, do what I did and get a 12 month interest free credit card lol

Thanks :)

How did you go about this? What card did you use? I would be able to spend a bit more on my build if i could work these flipping things out. You can always email me (email in my trust)

Hi Otemu

I must say I've really enjoyed this thread, in fact it inspired me to build my own (despite your problems earlier on!).

You've got a nice looking set up in the end. But you have no mini-fridge - so where do you keep the beer?! :)
