Building my first pc

I'm hoping this isn't a toothpaste moment. :)

If you take C drive from another pc, unless the specs are very similar then it will simply give you a BSOD during windows boot up logo. That's the case for me 100% of the time. It may work, it may not, but it's always a good idea to re-install anyway for a new build, especially when you have a SSD.

That only happens if you're not thoroughly getting rid of any drivers before transferring.

It’s all irrelevant anyway. The question related to adding an EXTRA drive that had previously been used as a C: drive in another PC. Not trying to boot a new system from an existing install.

I'm just a bit paranoid now because i had to eff around with my heat sync loads trying to get it to sit, i had to remove it like 3 times and i only had a tiny sachet of thermal paste and i don't have any more. For the record thermal armour on a motherboard may look cool, its a LIVING HELL trying to install a sizeable heat sync on it.

If the temperature is okay, then it's okay.

What cooler are you using. Never had any problem with my Sabretooth.

Do I Put it on the cpu or the fan? when it came the thermal paste was already on the fan, but when I put more paste on I put it on the cpu like I saw in a video

Stock cooler already has thermal paste pre-applied so you don't need to apply any more. But it's for single application only so once you remove you have to wipe off then re-apply. Ideally you'll want to use something like arctic clean or at least an alcohol wipe.

Also don't use the spread method, it will cause air bubble to form, according to the experiment done by others with a piece of glass and posted on youtube.
