Building my first pc

Sorry, but I'm all out of suggestions then. Initial thoughts now are that you might want to wait a bit longer for stuff to dry out some more or that you've fried the MB. Only way to confirm that is to individually test the sum parts of your PC in another machine to make sure they all work. If they do then it's definitely the MB. Keep us posted.

Just to confirm a few things

your PC does turn on and keeps continously running? (should be able to hear fans etc running) or does it turn on and cut out?

Your monitor dosent work connected to your PC but it does work connecting to you laptop?

Dramatic? The monitor is BROKEN it wont turn on.

The monitor is broken by spilling irn bru on the inside?

Relax. Check the kettle lead is plugged in fully. You said the monitor worked on the laptop - is that still the case or not?

Try a different kettle lead, the one you were using on your PSU perhaps.

youtube is a friend in these situations, there is a wealth of videos on pretty much all aspects of building computers. It should only be hard if you don't have another computer to hand to check stuff out while you're building.

Stop being so dramatic.

Take it apart fully, clean it properly, have a look on google there will be plenty of guides of how to do this effectively. Then come back tomorrow when it has had chance to dry, put it together using this guide: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18046396 and ask us if you get stuck.

do this, also step away take a deep breath, and have a cuppa ( not near the parts tho).
