I've just sat here and read it all, thread of the year!

Although its funny as hell I can't help but feel bad for ya. If it's true....I bet you successfully got it all together and decided to have a laugh with us.

After reading throught all that I was expecting ..yay it works ... instead you spill a drink all over it :(.

I hope you get it sorted.

Oh Christ. Stevo!!!
We convinced you to do it and you took the plunge, fair play to you!

Then...

You get it all done and reach the final hurdle only to drop a can of flipping Irn Bru in the thing!!?? Epic facepalm mate. Epic.

I really hope you get it all working though. Good luck!

I can't remember what GPU you got but a guess is that you may have wrecked it with the Irn Bru. Make sure it's plugged into your power supply, of course. If it's a decent card it'll need its own power.

What you could do is plug your display into the MB gfx and see if that works first. If it does then you know it's the GPU or it's an issue linked to the slot you have it plugged into on your MB. If that's the case you're a bit buggered really :(

Don't lose hope. Did you try what I suggested? It may just be an issue with the graphics card. Did it get covered? Is everything dried out, fans spinning etc?

Steveo - yes at the back of your PC there should be a plug that the monitor will go into that is not your graphics card. It will more than likey be above any connector you have already tried on the graphics card.

Also, make sure you have powered your display up! ;)

what montior did you get? when you switch monitor on does it say HDMI on screen or does it say VGA?

when i powered mine on it was trying to connect to VGA i had to double tap a button on front of screen to get it to autodetect / switch to HDMI

Also just read this entire thing, well done for sticking it out and building the comp mate. unlucky with the spillage! it should be ok though, i work around computers and i've seen things like cups of coffee spilled on computers which literally stained the motherboard and they still worked fine.

How can it be clean and dry by now?

A fizzy drink like that needs washing away, not just wiping up. It then needs plenty of time to dry out before powering it up, not just a few hours.
