Building Oblivion

I think ooo has a submod that allows you to change respawn rate of monsters. Default is 3 game days, I set mine to two weeks. You have over a year if you please but it takes more resources from your pc. Shame this game does not has multicore support, role on skyrim

Installing OOO is clearly going to fix his game :)

Especially as I already have it as part of FCOM ><

I don't remember if it was doing it before. It just seems to have severely messed up certain spawns. I'll have to go dungeon delving a little to see if its effected regular dungeons too (I'm lvl10 but thats entirely down to doing the Thieves Guild quest line and stealing 13,000 worth of loot thanks to the increased requirements so you don't need a pathetic little 1,000 gold for the final quest, Springheel Jack needs 10,000) but it doesn't seem to be doing anything like that outside in regular exploration.

It just seems to be stacking some areas with a ridiculous number of enemies.

Game is also a lot better with deadly reflex mod, makes the combat much more enjoyable. Timing the blocks, kicking, weapon throwing, headbutts and taking heads off. also executing someone while they sleep ringwraith style. The horse combat was a little bugged, but may have changed now. Il check out the respawn mod, it may work independent but will prob need wyrebashing into the save

I was going to use it but the HUD thing caused crashing so I couldn't get the momentum bar which would've made it a little awkward. Stupid thing is it still uses the animations, so a forward power attack is a thrust (with every weapon...) and it seems my dodges for Acrobatics have become kicks that can't actually target an enemy. Not to mention the mod itself didn't seem to be working correctly when it initialised.

Its tempting to pick up Oblivion on steam just so I don't have to bother with the damn discs when I reinstall it.

I did not install momentum bar on my one, just tried to use guess work to get ths finishes.

Shame about the dodge being replaced. I know the zoom does not work on the bows if you have it installed. Just think its worth the sacrifice as i found my earlier playthrough too easy when you get to a certain level, that was 80 hours down the pan.

Were you using version 6? It comes with that timer in your inv that resets intialisation but I know sometimes it does crash.

Also the respawn mod is for OOO 1.33 unfortunatley, so unless you start over then its a no go.

Steam version is good but I think you have to archive invalidation first before you can do anything mod wise.

Know what you mean about the monsters increase, taking on 10-15 Dremora is tough. Reavers and Amazonians are tough SOB's too.

Urgh, Amazon Man-Eater outside the Cursed Mine owned me badly. Doesn't help that Chameleon is so frigging glitched and makes any character using it completely invisible.

Well my Blade and Marksman are both 25 (trained up from 10) as I was focusing on using poisons for the combat I needed to do while focusing on stealth and thieving. The 1 thing that annoys me about stealth is that after a while it almost becomes completely pointless using melee sneak attacks or trying to use invisibility to lose them then returning for a new sneak attack when you can just sit somewhere and spam bow attacks until said target dies.

I think the next time I clean install I'm gonna have to go search for updated mods. Pretty sure theres a new version of OOO out I don't have. Slightly confused by oblivion XP as I have the latest version but I'm still not getting exp for kills with poisons. Might remove it and try reinstalling it...

Shaders installed, need another GPU to crossfire...

Funny that as i have better cities and it improved my fps a lot by dropping settings.

What gpu are you running?

It's not the FPS I care about, I never fight in the Docks so who cares? I care about the bloody crash to desktop you get as soon as you have Better Cities, RAEVWD, AWLS & QTP3 installed. Streamline manages the sliders anyway.

I don't worry about FPS either, it's the fequent jerks it performs while you are travelling outside as it loads grass\trees

My goal is to have them gently fade in and it doesn't have a 0.5 second pause as it loads them in.

Any advise would be very very welcome

That second screenshot looks so grey. Frostcrag Spire does look impressive though.

Anyway, deleted Oblivion a few hours ago. Might reinstall in a few days, although I also might just wait and get the steam version (installing all the expansions and tiny DLCs is so tedious) and try a few small gameplay tweaks to begin with. See how Deadly Reflexes handles in combination with nGCD (and unofficial patches an darn UI obviously).

It's just one of the Shaders, can't see me using it for day to day use - but it certainly adds some drama to the scene. I'll not use the Depth of Field either for playing, it gets on my **** but got for screenshots. The thing that's killing my framerate is some new shaders they've put in for lighting, it looks great but my GPU bottlenecks with it - running 100%. Some optimisation work to be done in the new version of OBGE I think.

There's some INI tweaks you can look into, just Google for them. Remember the game is optimised for a 5 year old PC - so you can make some stuff a little more multi threaded and have a larger memory cache internally.

http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/453122-oblivion-tweaks/

Remember the game is still a 32bit application when calculating memory cache size, i'd be conservative and try:

iPreloadSizeLimit=52428800

Update on 4GB Patch. This is indeed the trick to stabilising Oblivion, the base game will crash whenever more than 1.8GB is used (easy to do with mods). If you have the disk version you are lucky, the patch works fine.

If you have the Steam version the patch will not work. There is a workaround if you own a copy from Steam, but it's borderline against the rules here so I will only say look at OBSE/src/obse/loader_common/EXEChecksum.cpp line 224.

I really don't understand this git program...

Installed it, ran the initialize thing it mentions but no clue what I'm doing ><

Ok well ive stating a fact that lower sliders help more than you think. i have all the shaders myself along with all the same mods you have and i get a lot more than 12fps.

I get 30 to 35 with an overclocked 470.

Crossfire wont do anything the game doesnt scale well whatsoever as its cpu dependant. You will hardly see any improvement.

I am also running the max QP3 not the redimized.

Don't quote images!

READ WHAT I POSTED. Streamline is managing the sliders, dropping them when framerates go down. Grass distance etc in those shots is probably at 25% because:

I have been trying out the new Volumetric Screenspace Global Illumination Shader, Parallax Occlusion, Water, Global Lightbeam and Sky shaders that came with OBGE3 (which was released less than a week ago). These are VERY heavy on the GPU, taking utilisation from 50% to 100% and bottlenecking frames, they are also done entirely on the GPU outside of the Oblivion engine hence an extra 6950 (or two) would help.

Anyone played the that total conversion mod nehrim for oblivion, done by some german developers and if so is it any good? Also was the middle earth mod cancelled?
