Buying the console you want vs the one everyone else wants...

I'v also noticed that you only start doing that when the argument starts to favour the PS4. You are clearly biased towards the Xbone and it is affecting your moderating IMO.

I'm not biased in the slightest. The argument will always favour the PS4 as it's the more powerful console. I know this. Everyone knows this. It doesn't need to be drilled home in every single next gen thread.

You say everyone knows it, but the issue is that some people keep denying it, which is what kicks off the debate again every time.

Every time someone says the difference doesn't matter, or the difference isn't noticeable or the difference will disappear over time, somebody needs to correct them because they are all basically incorrect!

I have re-read the OP and it is quite literally a head or heart decision. At the end of the day this is a tech forum, so people are going to talk about the technical features. If he wants to follow his heart and buy an Xbone then I fully support that stance. If he wants to follow his head and choose the one with the better specs and better price then there can be no argument that the PS4 is the one to buy.

It is a bit of a concern that Xbox fans come along with incorrect or badly skewed points against the PS4 though, and then have mr moderator come along and delete posts that correctly point out when someone is talking a load of rubbish.

Then just let them deny it. I'm very much looking forward to my Xbox One, and I truly believe the performance gap will get shorter over the years. However, I know the simple fact is that the PS4 will always have the more powerful hardware (which is one reason why I want one).

The power arguments have been done to death though, for the past couple of months. If people still don't know what they are, no amount of arguing is going to change that now.

Edit: I will add though that anyone who says the difference doesn't matter isn't technically wrong, as that bit is just down to personal beliefs.

Why do you even bother Davey? I know I think you're biased towards xbox one but why bother responding to the dribbling trolls.

You best not be on here at all for a week post launch bloody trying to reason with idiots

Considering that we don't have many side by side comparisons. The ones that have been made have contrast issues, but were fairly similar otherwise. That we haven't had a great deal of hands on time with multi-platform titles ourselves. Whether the difference matters to someone will be subjective. And you can't see into the future. Don't you feel you're being more than a little arrogant by telling people they are wrong?

The only way I consider myself biased is that I prefer the Xbox One launch titles. I've no huge love or hatred for MS or Sony. I know how it comes across though, so there's little I can do about that. The only thing I could do is keep my mouth shut, and I refuse to do that.

Nah, I can deal with that. Anyone who goes too far will just get suspended, so they can have more time with their new console ;)

Both launch titles are immensely turd. Xbox has two okay looking exclusives, playstation has one. From what I've heard new FIFA(also the new fifa is trash)/Madden aren't huge improvements.

Still going to end up with both around christmas though ><

No because we all know there is a difference in terms of power of the hardware, and we are now seeing a difference from the first batch of multiplat games so we KNOW there IS a visible difference.

I agree that over time the gap will probably get a bit smaller due to developers getting better at the XB1's slightly more complicated hardware, but there will always be a gap because things like the GPU will always have that raw power difference.

Of course how much will vary from game to game but it's only when people try to claim there won't be any visible difference that it becomes incorrect.

To answer the OP, as soon as next gen was announced I wanted an xbox. Though with the whole no 2nd hand games, constant internet etc. I was swayed heavily to surrendering and buying a PS4 as it was the one the vast majority of people were getting. Since that has all be backtracked though and the xbox is a much more valid option and people have switched back I am gonig to get the console I want.

I feel like I'm going to be the only person on Xbox Live next generation.

Without trying to drive you to a ps4 I will be getting an xbone :p (though not at launch)

Also there are some of us who say it doesn't matter as we don't care. Graphically games on the current gen like Halo 4, GTA5, BF3 and BF4 are fine for me. I would rather the extra grunt of next gen go into making a better game not a better looking game.

The only good comparison I've seen has been the BF4 IGN video so if you've got anything to add I'd be interested. The gifs are OK for IQ analysis, but they don't give any sense of fluidity. There's definitely a difference in the BF4 video, not aided by the contrast error on the XB1 footage. But the PS4 has better anti-aliasing, a small but noticeable difference.

I would just be careful with how you correct people. You can't tell people they are wrong if they don't feel it matters, or that it may or may not disappear, that remains to be seen.

I agree that the gifs etc aren't great for comparisons, well even the videos and screenshots aren't really because they are compressed and then being viewed on our monitors so it's going to be completely different to actually seeing the game being played on your TV.

I do think the way I try to get my point across in here probably isn't the best. :(

If somebody doesn't mind the difference personally that's fine, but often i am seeing people saying that the difference doesn't matter full stop, and are then pushing that on other people, making it seem that the difference doesn't exist. A lot of people are trying to make decisions about which console to buy, so all positives and negatives should be laid out clearly for them, not distorted to suit any single persons opinion.

I have both on preorder, but will probably cancel the XB1 if the reviews are as negative as the 720p/1080p bad press they've been getting.

I bought a Dreamcast and loved it! 6 man WWE royal rumble was ahead of it's time! :):(

To be fair I think it's the other way round everyone seems to be bashing the xbox and trying to persuade others to ignore in favour of the ps4 to be honest I hope they both do well just like I hope the wii u picks up once the big hitters are out ! At the end of the day you choose the games you want to play not the console you want to use and no resolutions not the be all and end all of gaming and it's not the graphics that's important or the most powerful hardware it games for example look at the vita vs ds vita is way more powerful but the ds is the most popular because of the games same with the original wii . If every console had the exact same games at the exact same price then yeah you would pick the one that plays and handles those games better but that's not the case :p

I don't know why anyone has either on pre-order tbh, wait a couple of months and see how things pan out. Early adopters suffer more issues, have fewer games to choose from and inevitably pay more.
