BYE BYE Corkscrew

Glad to see it go tbh.

Went on it the last time I went to AT and my colar bones were absolutly destroyed after going on it...Hard plastic + Bone = Ouch!

Also lost my jacket on it ...was gutted :(

Hope they build something bigger, better, faster and stronger.

Maybe it'll be a new over-hauled Corkscrew ;)

Has anyone been on Space mountain? I did like that, although it was my first roller coaster..And no it isn't in AT.

Mind you, you can't see anything, but still cool.

I've just realised I have never actually been to Alton Towers, lol!

Should do, it is cool :)

Better if you can get time off work though, rather than a weekend day, as it's silly busy...especially when it's sunny.

We drove up from near Coventry lets say, and it took about an hour to get within two miles of the park entrace....the next hour and 40 minutes was queing in a line :p

1980? Christ!. Amazing what a lick of yellow paint can do lol. Probably for the best that it's being torn down. I did ride it a few times though and have some fond memories :).

:( And theres gonna be a lot of drinking in between all this...

I went on this when i was 10 years old, in 1980 about 2 weeks after it opened.
It was a school trip, the sun battled with the clouds for weather dominance that day.........Mrs Saxton looked fetching in her leggins, and. err...ohh,
anyway, we were the first school in and they let us on the corkscrew. I stayed on 4 times in a row without getting off......then i got off cos i felt sick. The rest of my mates stayed on for a total of 24 times without leaving their seat!!!

R.I.P. Corkscrew....you were my true nemesis!

Don't really like Corkscrew much, my memory of it is tainted. The only time I went on it, channel 4 were filming there and we had to queue for ages in the rain
Once I got in my seat it was 5 minutes whilst they fiddled around with cameras before we actually moved.
Look forward to see what they put there.
Hopefull something on par with Nemesis. If only they could fit something as mental as Dragon Kahn there :D

Why...?...WHY!??!!!!?

What's being replaced with it...that beats half the rides there...Take down Oblivion if anything.

Oblivion is fantastic...its the only ride that actually scares me. Corkscrew is okay, a classic, but its not exactly great anymore. I remember thinking how awesome it was when I was a kid...I went back with some friends about a year ago and it was nowhere near as fast or as exciting as I remembered. I really regret the fact that when I was younger I didn't have the guts to go on the Thunderlooper before they closed it, my dad and sister used to love that :D

I really want to go here now :(

Will only be second time as well to AT...Might have to get my mate involved, he can get cheap tickets :D

OcUK meet at Towers? Haha.

loads of free tickets about at the moment, infact i got a buy one get one free ticket thingy at home i never used.

we went not long ago, cost each of us about 7 quid all in i think.

no ques at all! was awesome!
