Alton Towers is crap now though, you que for an hour each ride easliy. By the time you have done all major rides the day is over.

When is the best times to go? Went when it was raining once and that was pretty good.
During term time, in the colder months. You'll queue 10 minutes tops for the biggest rides, which makes it a lot more fun.

I have to admit I've never been to Alton Towers. The last rollercoaster I went on was the 'Crazy Mouse' at the end of Brighton Pier. I was leathered. It was not good :(

Unveiled to a crowd of over 30,000 in April 1980, the ride has since carried over 43,449,840 guests through it's double helix.

I hate to be a pedant* but it's not a double helix. It's a single helix that has a 720° rotation.

*This may be a lie :p

Glad to see it gone in all honesty.

I have been to a huge amount of theme parks in America, and Nemesis is the only ride at Alton Towers that can proudly stand among them.

Nemesis is a rediculously good ride. Consistantly twisting and turning and never a dull moment. I actually think its better than some of the larger rides in the US.

The bit at the start where you go upside down and turn quickly

Rita and Air are very 'meh'. Especially since Stealth came to Thorpe Park and literally blew every UK thrill ride out of the water in terms of 'thrills'. Saying that... the stealth equivilents in the US are insane!

Alton cant build anything like that, they have restrictions in place, i dont think there allowed to build anything now above tree height.

I hope they do a coaster that goes down into the valley, also rumours of them tweaking rita, faster longer etc.

Im sure whatever they do it will be a worlds 1st.

That sucks! :( They should get some taller trees. :p

:( went on this tother day, unbelievable how old it is!

yep I went the other week and it is looking it's age.

The Black hole went the other year so AT is slowly loosing it's big attractions. Problem is, more queues on the ones that remain. Might have to be Thorpe Park from now on.

I never got to ride Rita.. Story of my life really :p

i think oblivion is above the trees...? you have a very good view all around before the drop

Thats what caused all the fuss i think, the ropers (old bloke who owns a pottery place and lives very close to oblivion) took them to court quite a few times about the noise on blivvy, and the fireworks, after that the restrictions were put in place, they removed the speakers which said "dont look down when you hung over the drop"

Sad, sad day. Corkscrew is a classic.

Look at the smile on my face (top right) you know its good!
