Bye Bye Game!

If OpCapita take over, do you think the pricing policy will change to keep up with the internet market?

Latest rumour is Walmart are willing to offer 12p per share for GAME.
Could be intereting if true, as MCV says that this could bring on a bigging war.
Whoever mentioned that their £100 worth of shares were worthless a couple of days ago i hope you haven't sold them yet. :)

Well, I can only hope it's true! :P

Didn't sell them, didnt seem worthwhile for £20 or whatever they were worth last night. Not getting my hopes up but I might post that rumour on facebook to annoy my mates. ;)

I see the shares are upto ~2p now, werent they 0.5p a couple of days back?
Could the rumour be just to convince people to purchase shares.
Wonder if theres any left lol

wheres the best place to buy em online?

they were 0.5p for a few hours but they closed at 1.1p yesterday.

It could just be ramping of the price, although x-o.co.uk is about the cheapest place to buy shares fwiw (£6 a trade). I would only buy them if you can afford to lose whatever you buy, its basically a gamble. You'd get a better chance of a decent return putting it on bilboa to beat united .

Rocky is going up against the whole man Utd team?

You mean Bilbao?

yeah i was upset when i heard this the other day.. Neeeed some money, a few pc games i really want.. May aswell pick them up cheap instead of paying steam prices :D

Crysis maximum edition in GAME £7.99
Crysis "complete pack" on steam £24.99

Hmmm, where do i buy it from? decisions, decisions

Glad I never bothered getting a GAME card. Not bought anything from Game for years. With their diminishing PC Game section they deserved what they got in my opinion. Managing to alienate a load of your customers (PC Gamers) is not the brightest thing.

I do feel for those losing their jobs though.

+1 to that.. the pc game section sucked..... Still had old games like Sims 2 etc on shelf....
And we wonder why people come out with the "is pc gaming dying" topic... I guess its down to companies like Game, not supplying much for the pc that makes it feel like that

One of the reasons PC games declined at retailers like GAME is the focus on pre-owned. Due to DRM and CD keys you can't sell a PC game more than once, unlike console games where they can recycle the same few copies over and over again via their trade-in system, making a large profit each time.

That policy directly led to the current situation with day-one DLC and other methods publishers have used to make second hand copies less desirable, which of course has also affected PC versions of the same games.

I'm not sure what this criticism towards GAME's pc section is all about.

I don't know if its just the GAME shops I've been in, but they've always had a fairly decent selection. I don't expect the same amount of games as the console sections because PC is just a obviously more niche platform, and a lot of people digitally download these days.

I've had 2 for £25 on fairly new games, and 3 for £15 on pretty old games...I remember paying a grand sum of £40 for Fallout New Vegas, DOW 2 Retribution collectors ed and Wings of Prey Limited ed. This was going on a year ago now so at least 1 of those games was quite new at the time. Ripped off? Hell no.

However the shop known as GameSTATION, everyone I've ever been in has had a APALLING pc section, not just a limited selection of games but prices that are full RRP. Not good.

I do remember buying pc games from wh smiths and even woolies, and now with the demise of game/station this will hurt me quite a bit.

I was in HMV last week, they had a tiny pc games section and the prices were full RRP. They wanted £40 for swtor! Not good.

The GAME in Chester has a good pc section IMO, they have all the chart games extending past the top 10, a section devoted to cheap games and lots of 2 for £25 on games that have been out for a few months or so.

And I've only been a fulltime pc gamer since HL2 came out. So I haven't really noted a downturn in the pc section.

If I had an independent computer games shop now. I'd have a shelf around the back of the counter, that everyone could see. On that I'd have a working, Atari VCS 2600, spectrum +2, C64, Atari 520ST, Amiga 500 and 1200. All running games and demos, making lots of crazy computer ambient sounds :) Giving the shop some atmosphere. As well as showing the younger generation the history of gaming :D Game posters everywhere and a kind of hackers den feel and deco.
