Bye Bye Scooby ( pics of replacement now posted )

Very nice motor Rotty, an M3 is top of my "may actually be possible one day" car wishlist.

I much prefer it to the Scoob, quick though they are I've never got in with the styling, whereas the M3 is a mean looking mofo.

M3 should be more reliable, bigger engine with no boost must add upto less strain and greater reliability. Subaru show much higher failure overall anyhow.

Losing AWD in the middle of winter for RWD wont be a problem then ?

Its just a shame they are so mainstream, for such an awesome car. Look fwd to you comparison compared to the Suburu.

PS, I hate you for your insurance! I pay over 1k for a Focus ST170 4 years NCB's. I swear everyone has a note to screw me over when it comes to renewal time!

How does it compare in performance terms/handling to the scooby?

Ouch, my ST170 only costs me 550 quid and thats with 3 years ncb (was 650 with 2 years ncb). What insurer are you with?

Direct Line! thought it was meant to go down when you turned 25! I only use it at weekends, and its locked in a garrage mon-fri!

You tried Elephant? I've been quoted £1,600 on my 330d Sport (although with my dad as a named driver on my policy). I'm 22, have a claim in my name, 0ncb, but no points. Direct line laughed uncontrollably before quoting £2200.

I think the main difference is that Elephant asked me how much my insurance claim amounted to (it was about £500 - I had to claim becuase it was a lease car  ), whereas the option on Direct Line was "I have claimed for damage to my car/another car", which I guess covers everything from "I backed into a tree in a new car" to "I caused a 50 car pile up in my Arctic, whoops.".

Just been checking tyre prices to get the shock out of the way

rears seem to be 255/35/90 which are around £190 which sounds fair enough

but the fronts which I think are 225/40/19 are about tha same if not a bit more

very odd

255/35/90 !

Big ass drag racer tyres?! :p

Why so odd? 225/40/19 might just be a rather un-common size making them a bit pricey? But then again I dunno.

Saying that £190 for a tyre makes me cry :p

Oops, I really should read threads more closely instead of skim reading and looking at the pretty pictures ;).

Try Admiral/Elephant, thats who I use/used to use.

:D Wow, very nice.

Only decision after a scoob - to buy something that requires a bit more input.

Tell us how you find the drive, it should be absolutely fantastic.
