the point is if you had great handling then you should be able if done well to do reasonable timed laps.
murray you had a g27 wheel and you doing it slower than a keyboard player whos blind folded. the time you are doing is really really slow.
so how does your video illustrate great handling ?
that is what i was getting at. wont argue with you no more as there is no point the only ones replying are the pro project cars boys.
also murray its not about being better its you just posted a video of you going round basically so slow that what does it actually point point out ?
nothing ! it doesn't illustrate good handling because you arnt driving fast enough to show how the car works .
as i said put a decent lap in doesn't have to be the fastest time but when doing so dont just add the edited versions or the one perfect lap you did add some off the others where you breaked and nothing happened or you turned and it didn't turn or it didn't go round corner or spins out for no reason lol .
I spent some time re reading about the first ten pages of the thread. I'd also say that I've probably read every post in the entire thread as well. At no point has DG ever criticised the game in a constructive way. Early on in the game's development he got a refund after kicking off about the leader boards being scrapped for junior members.
All he's said since is the game handles like a "wet piece of butter" and he game sounds like a lawn mower.
All that would be fine if the game was even in the beta stages, but it's still pre alpha and nothing in the game is set in stone.
DG. Why rtm posts complaining that you are getting baited, then kick off at people.
I'm not inclined to put anybody on a holiday bar you here tbh
The phrase "a wet piece of butter" is simply amazing, must remember to use that one!
reminds me of the skip barber in iracing
I always felt like I could never do the same lap twice in that thing because it had a habit of behaving like a wet piece of unpredictable butter
arknor i do have the game as i have said.
arknor i do have the game as i have said.
i like what the game could be im hoping that over the handling issues they do sort it out cause it is not public yet.
so its a gamble which maybe worth it.
its obvious i do like it if i got another package after they refunded me .
the handling is the only real issue with the game , the sounds are terrible but they are probably place holders (i hope )
ill try and do a video soon if i can .
He's clearly not happy with the formula B either and as the devs listen to nicholas hamilton and ben collins expect it to slowly become better thanks to their extremely detailed feedback which is how criticism should beIn all honesty i had to park the Formula B for a while because at the rate i was going, it had me considering early retirement.
Now that i have some clue, thanks to you guys, about the tyre types i will man up and strap back in. On the Formula A the lock up release feels good although you can never have too much driveability on that function. We want as much control as possible to unlock a tyre.
Oh one other thing - why have all the AI drivers turned into *******? I miss the old team that wanted to kill me at every opportunity..
seems he might even agree with you DGben collins said:Formula A
In general very good but I still feel the rear is too twitchy and unstable in the following ways
1. Touch a kerb and you’re history. It wheelspins regardless of the circumstance and at high speed you can expect and un-recoverable spin. Be great to change that
2. Rear feels soft – realise this is probably to allow driveability. Is there any way that the rear can skip slightly more aggressively in small twitching movements rather than letting go with one single big & hard to recover slide? It’s hard to drive the car on the throttle in the current config
3. There’s not enough lateral grip in the slide. Still would love to have more grip from the tyre when the rear brakes loose in order to help drive the car on the throttle and to balance it into more of a settled drift on corner exit.
Generally there’s just not enough rear grip for traction and the back end responds the same at low or high speed.
My only other request of the Formula A would be more steering feedback – as much as possible, and linked to the amount of load on the front end as it digs into the corner. There are signs of this working and it’s extremely exciting!
well what do you know the FB is a "wild west testbed" and this is the reason is handles like a turd.quick reply from vacation, since I happen to have a net connection right now.
The FA is still on the less responsive approach, unlike the FB. But since the FB seems to be further from your liking, maybe we should try to deal with the FA slide grip before adding more FB-ness to the FA tire (eventually FA and FB should be on the same tire, I know, but right now the FB is the more wild west testbed, while the FA is more controlled).
The FA slide grip is going to be a challenge apparently. It has less now than before, but it had to, to avoid that flipping case. Basically, in that flipping scenario the physics say that much grip at the FA's CG (which is higher than the FB) will flip. So if a real FA has that much grip on that CG, it HAS to falloff in the flipping case (to not flip) if the real thing isn't flipping. I switched to 'theorietically' more correct falloff, but with the direct falloff method. I'll probably have to work heating based falloff into the FA instead of the temperature-unaware falloff, since that has a time element in it.
^^
That's constructive criticism.
No mention of wet butter at all.
its nice to see they do notice somethings
the reason i dont post on the wmd forums is the admin edited one of my posts and refunded my money
ill wait till next build see how it changes again with the handling.
