*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

When i originally got this i thought it was poor in just about every way, so i uninstalled for the past year or so and reinstalled it the other day.

what exactly have they been doing ? The physics and FFB are so bad, some of the cars i tested seem even worse than i remember.

they have a ton of work to do before this becomes even remotely decent.

The FSA have told SMS that they have to refund anyone that asks for one at anytime during the game's development. So there's no need for anyone to bad mouth the game just to get a refund.

By all means express your opinion all you like, but you can get a refund by asking in the forum.

Unlike in the early days when they wouldn't refund if you'd had access to a tool pack for any length of time.

For me the game has had very good FFB and physics at some points during development. It's also got worse and then better and worse again, but it's always been playable with a steering wheel and pedal set. Unlike the NFS Shift games they produced.

They need to ignore the forum, decide on a FFB and physics model and stick with it. Then concentrate on finishing the game for release in the autumn.

Crowd funding may work, but crowd developing does not.

Ok here's how to get a refund:

goto eurogamer and post how you feel about the game - I thought it was terrible so I wrote on this post http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-02-13-project-cars-still-on-course-for-2014-release

My quote is:

So many comments and no one has tried it. I have and I've got full steam access. It handles bloody awfully and the tracks are shonky to say the least! This game will achieve absolutely no more than 5/10 in the metacritic reviews there is no doubt about it. The redeeming feature is the 3d car models and 2d weather skyscapes and lightning images are great but that doesn't make a game playable in the slightest. If only I could demonstrate how terrible the game feels to play would anyone like to request any specific scenarios via video?

within 10 minutes I received this email:

Hello, you have been banned for our decision. You'll receive a refund
(10 euro) via Paypal at: [email protected]

I went to log in and sure enough I have the money on paypal - this will be real useful for those of you that paid for expensive tiers as 10 euros is nothing but cool to get it back just for ticking the game off casually. Make sure you post on the article with same username you use to log into the game else they can't ban/refund you.

Happy to help :D

Alternatively, you could have just asked Vitt politely for a refund like a well-rounded adult.

The problem is they've gone for quantity over quality.

They're getting very short with people in the forum when they complain about something.

They should at least have one track, car and tyre that is always fully updated so everyone can use that as a reference point. How it is now no matter what you test you get told it's not updated your using the wrong tyres or the wrong track.

Oh of course but I didn't really need a refund. All I did was post my negative thoughts on the game and this was picked up by Vitt who decided to ban and refund we without me making any request. Guess he assumed as the game is nearly finished I won't enjoy the finished product either. I'm universal in my praise of Assetto Corsa though so it's not like all of these aspirations for realistic but playable games are unattainable for even small developers.

::::MAIN POINT::::

The devs attitude to negative feedback was WarZ moderator style which extended to hunting down negative feedback right across the internet, which is probably necessary only if you are worried you might have a poor game or are deeply financially invested or profiting greatly from a project and you are worried about seeing a return on it due to a few bad comments and the games' reputation being spoiled because of them. Obviously I hope they change the game totally and make millions but all I did was say how it is.

they dont do criticism that is well known :p

anyone who has bad word boom instant refund :D

look at those videos above for eg look at the car and how it rolls about.

they could still pull it off if they get there heads out their backsides and listen properly to feedback !

the original handling they had early on was better than what they have now.

if they had kept it that way and then just kept on with the content everyone would have been pro cars except now its slowly turned as i knew it would on pc to a might of been so great game.

asetto has stepped in done what cars should have done without the arrogance and now is in the driving position on pc.

I don't post on their forum anymore because I'd just lose access and don't really want a refund because I've gotten more than my money's worth in gametime. I've been testing pCARS on and off for two years but lost interest now. Nothing has been locked down, a car or track or tyre model, somethings have been in limbo for years. Physics is too erratic, constantly improving a little then a lot worse. I agree that it felt much better in the early days :(

Graphics are alright but way over rated imo and performance is still horrendous in parts. AC looks much more realistic and I can run 20 AI without any slowdown whilst pCARS still stutters with just you on track.

Yeah true performance was always an issue that impeded enjoyment a lot. The opponents are sort of mad too like an open track day with loads of different types of cars all over the place some going 20 mph some going 200mph lol.

All the whingeing about pCars Devs is tiresome. It's not a game forum, it's a game development forum, big big difference, you're supposed to be testing and providing feedback. The point is to be constructive, explain the issues you are having providing photo, video evidence if necessary and the issue is logged and dealt with. If you just post "nah this is crap, wtf do you think you're playing at?" What help is that to them? Read the forums properly, plenty of criticism and negative feedback just presented in a useful way that the Devs can react to. The handling is very much related to FFB, which can't be nailed until the physics is considered to be done. There is a process, pCars is an opportunity to see how a game is developed (usually behind closed doors). Anyone whingeing about the way they have been treated or the state of the game just doesn't get it.

Bemanic, of course SMS are invested in the game...they got royally screwed by EA and they want to get away from developers, they put their future in the hands of the sim racing community and went field of dreams on the concept of a racing sim developed with the help of sim racers...what the hell is wrong with that? They have to make money or the company goes bust. Do you work for the love of it or because you get paid? You got busted ****ging off your boss basically...fair cop I say.

I think what SMS are building with pCars has the potential to be something special, if people would just get over their preconceptions and give it a chance...the cake isn't cooked yet. Release is scheduled for November, lots of work still to do, you can either help out or wait for the demo, but stop whining.

Well it depends on how broken the FFB is, for me it is almost none existent now.
I can't test the physics if I can't get the FFB right.

I don't want my money back, I've enjoyed it and hope it will return to a more enjoyable game.

But as said before they need to have one car track and tyre that is always fully updated for testing until then most people are wasting their time as they're testing the wrong stuff and cluttering the forum with useless reports.

The problem is that everyone wants a certain feel from FFB. There are tweaked files that help, and in game settings. Another thing, I have been told to change FFB and stuff in AC you have to edit files to change values? Please correct me if I'm wrong. In pCars there are in game adjustments, and pre-configured tweaker files to try out and yet pCars testers don't seem to go to the trouble to find the settings that help them get the right feel...confusing again considering finding those settings and describing the differences would be great help to the Devs.

I haven't used AC for a while but found the FFB acceptable without making any changes.
It could be better as I feel braking is a little off as it seems to float. When I first tried it you could really feel the braking effect but others complained and it was removed or toned down.

I've tried tweaker but it doesn't change the basic problem of not feeling anything on the track any more it just makes the turning stiffer.

6 months ago my settings were 56 strength and 55 wheel force. I forget the actual names. Now I have to set them at 100+ to feel even the slightest rumble from the curbs. I feel virtually nothing from the wheels unless the car is in full spin then it feels slightly light. I don't even like strong forces and I'm usually the one complaining that the effects are too strong.

Right now I'd put rf2 at the top and I hate to admit that as I don't really like the game. Then would come AC and iRacing (based on very old test).

I've only ever posted in the PCARS forum bug reports with supporting videos and reference photos for tracks I've been to. I've voted in every poll and have tested for over 200 hours.

I don't think the game is bad, nor do I think the game will be rubbish when it's released. My biggest gripe is they should have nailed down the physics and FFB a long tine ago and concentrated resources on other areas. Instead they've spread themselves too thinly by developing pCARS and other projects at the same time.

Might give it another go over the weekend.

Is it possible to family share this game? I've been dying to try it but since enlisting for membership stopped a long time ago and selling accounts is forbidden I am hoping this is atleast a way for me to try it.

Edit. Seems you can't

11:01 - Leviathan: Not possible sorry
11:02 - Leviathan: our game is not covered by family share
11:02 - Leviathan: since it requires a dual login setup

Wow... Sounds like the devs are little girl dogs...

Will steer clear from this then.

Thats a pretty ignorant 'little girl dog' response

Its a beta game, which started out with its own login system, and that still exists since moving to Steam. Im not sure whether WMD have tied steam accounts to a login, but its quite possible that you could play the game but you'd have to do so using the other persons WMD login credentials.

Theres a handful of games which dont let you share, whining that a pre-alpha title with its own login verification system (like so many) hasnt completely stopped work in order to implement a system that isnt good for them but Steam came up with so drop everything, is ignorant. 'little girl dog' levels of ignorant.

I dont much care about this game any more, but being a 'bum gap' is being a 'bum gap'.
