*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Wow getting my fibre optic tomorrow, gaming PC has not been turned on for awhile, kind of give up on gaming because of this very game.
Not even got a decent monitor anymore as my 24" blew up.
My spec might be abit low
Q9650 running 4ghz with a nvidia 570 that clocks like a bitch.
Could put it on the tv in front room for now, should be fine for 1080p you think.
Will order it now

Damn, I didn't realise that my €10 backing for this in March 2012 didn't qualify me for a copy of the game.

The game has been in my steam library for about 3 years, but it's been removed today and replaced with a 20% discount code for the full game.

I played the early versions back when it was a buggy mess, but haven't bothered with it since.

Booo...

The pleasure is in the racing/driving, not in earning cash to buy cars :)

Everything's unlocked and all you have to do is pick a car and drive.
Personally, I've always prefered it this way. Each to their own though.

I agree, but I like the option of a decent career with progression as well. Oh well, no purchase for me :(

If it makes it any better, you can progress through the ranks like a real driver to a degree. Pretty sure you get contract offers from other teams/series, but I could be wrong.

How does it work with cars? Upgrades? Tune? Just watched a couple of vids and it wasn't even mentioned. Just "You can jump into any tier you want".

I will force my self to go down tier 8 if I played. But it just seems easy mode. I don't like it :(

It's focused on driving mate.
Upgrades are cool (I spent years on Forza), but it just isn't that kind of game. You have a car and you adjust the tune. That's it. Think Assetto (more or less) with more base content and extra shiny stuff with a better career mode.

I didn't really mess with career that much tbh as I don't really do AI. Hotlaps and private multiplayer is where it's for me.

Stolen from WMD

I have approx. 6MP with my resolution (3840x1644) and a single 980 GTX, and I max out on pCARS at about 2.7GB VRAM with most settings up max and AA on high. Your resolution is nigh on 11MP, so I would think that 4GB would be just enough unless you lower your AA settings somewhat and then you may make it a bit easier. If I run 4K (8MP) on my monitor then I max at 3.1GB VRAM.

I think you can tune to a degree, but body kits, etc I do not think they are in. Not like Need for speed style.

I was thinking arcadey like Forza where you tune a certain car up to a class and race it.

I want a decent racing game, but I just think I'll get bored much faster with a game that offers me no real challenge in the career. Multiplayer could be good but it often ends in people just pushing through or those with elite rigs coming 1st every time.

I don't think the abilty to upgrade makes a career more challenging tbh.
Multiplayer performance doesn't really depend on how good your pc is. You can always turn things down to get good fps if needed.

Private multiplayer is where you go when you're sick of dickheads on public lobbies ;)

You can Adjust the AI Skill from 0%(Easy) all the way to 100%(Alien). Simply adjust the Slider to increase or decrease the AI Skill to suit. If you're good on a particular Track then up the AI% to give you more of a Race. You can choose where you Start on the Grid which also gives more of a challenge, try a Multi-Class Race for even more of a challenge, then add rain for more, then do it at night in the fog... Not enough Challenge.. LOL!:D

right ok :-(
how come some people are allready playing it?

Probably players with beta keys that have now been unlocked to retail keys. i can play the game now and I played last night. I don't know exactly when my beta key went to retail, but it I haven't been locked out at anytime I've tried to play.

Tempted to buy this again.

but £40 on steam, £40 on GMG
physical £25 on Amazon, 25 on GAME or 29.99 for the digital download.. but game website thinks the release is friday.

Most cdkey selling sites don't seem to actually have the pre order cars and they obviously don't come up on steam as DLC because they don't exist as DLC.

stupid prices , stupid dlc being exclusive just puts me right off buying the game

Might as well just wait for it to be on sale in a few months :S over £10 rip off steam/GMG price

Purchased through Steam trades for around £25 PPG. Didn't want to risk the CDKeys version as it's still unknown whether it's the digital edition or not.

Downloading now at 9.0MB/S :D

My Setup - for Project Cars

so I've been a backer since 2012, but only really started playing again towards release. I made a video today for it, since it's being released tomorrow.

Here's a video I just made https://youtu.be/-xF9NSMqbD8?t=5m52s

Here's my setup -
