*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Empty Box on YouTube has just made a Video summing up ProjectCARS pretty well, I think he's a little over-cynical with regards to purely buying into the Game as an 'Investment', but what he says about the WMD Shills flying out of the woodwork to defend the Game at any negativity is absolutely spot on, it even happens here! ;) I guess it makes sense if they see the Game as a Financial Investment rather than a Game to played and enjoyed.

I was a €10 backer at launch and enjoy the game and purchased at retail launch.

One thing I am finding is that the Official Forum is being moderated VERY heavy handedly.

Anyone know why this thread would be locked:

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sh...hind-the-scenes-book-quot-a-bit-of-a-let-down

I sent an IM to the mod, who said:

It is open, James, I kept the thread open but the last post was off the line (not yours, someone else). Still, the thread is there and we won't delete it because opinions were expressed and Is transparent to everyone to read.

The last post was:

exactly what i did with the XB1 version HUGELY dissapointed!!!

How is that "off the line"? It was a personal opinion and not in breach of actual forum guidelines.

I asked him to explain himself, he replied:

You might be right, I won't say you are one way or the other.

If I was wrong, other Mods or Devs, or Ian himself (he's actively involved) will correct my action. In my own, you're entitled to say "I don't like this"

But I would personally phrase it: "I'm having this and this and this issue, this version XXX is hugely disappointing". Completely different.

In the other thread, I just simply don't agree with your opinion, which is just fine.

No idea what that means.

I asked who I can ask about unlocking the thread, he replied:

I'll do that for you internally.

I think the mod is mad and there is definitely an air of "elitism" from the original WMD backers, they think they own the joint.

I for one am looking forward to an "unofficial" forum springing up so one can discuss the game freely without the heavy handed moderation.

Maybe they are ruling hard now and setting the line for the future, but for me, seems too heavy handed.

Anything negative about the game, these mods seem to get grumpy.

I should point out, these are not staff of SMS, just forum mods.

EDIT:

Oh dear.

Regarding locked threads, Mods are replying to them to "carry on discussion" knowing for well the Op has no right of reply as the thread is locked. Embarrassing moderating.

Someone even "Liked" the mods final post where they locked the thread. HAHAHAHAHA

Such a shame that a game is being degraded with soo much politics across the board.

they probably have an invested interest.

They upgraded a bunch of the more vocal peoples toolpacks and promoted them to community ambassador or whatever stupid rank it was on the old forums.

Just bought this (well, almost) from the MM. How will my 7970GHz fair in 1080P? I can't play it just yet as I am not at home.

I will have to buy a Titan or 2 before I try and play it in 4K. Hopefully my 5GHz 2700K will fare OK.

Fixed.

These people do not know what they are doing regarding moderation.

Makes it all seem very amateur.

They gave the guy jonz a 780GTX or whatever it was so he could do better trailers too ;)

Most the the ones that got promoted were spamming the hell out of screenshots and videos to other forums.

Btw for anyone still messing with FFB
http://www.isrtv.com/forums/topic/17810-project-cars-force-feedback-tips-and-settings/
feels pretty decent on most cars.

for me at default there's to much crap going on with the wheel and you can't tell the difference between what feeling is what.
but with those settings I can properly feel the rear end of the car losing traction as the wheels start slipping and in slower corners I can feel the rear end biting when I apply throttle.

Most important seems to be in the car tuning
Fx = 48
Fy = 44
Fz = 54
Mz = 100

They all default to 100

the difference between Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ400 default and adjusted FFB seems massively improved out of the 10 or so cars I could be bothered to adjust
Spindle Master Scale: this scales the forces below it equally up and down, i.e. it's the FFB 'volume knob' specifically for that car. Turn it down if the FFB is clipping, and up if it's too weak.

Fx: this is the FFB component representing the longitudinal force on the tyre contact patch. This should determine FFB when accelerating or braking, but I haven't really experimented with this one yet.

Fy: this is the FFB component representing the lateral force on the tyre contact patch. Very important for feeling mass transfer/inertia of the car when cornering.

Fz: this is the FFB component representing the vertical force on the tyre contact patch. This plays an important part in the 'road feel' of the FFB, i.e. when going over bumps in the road.

Mz: this is the FFB component representing the twisting force of the wheels, i.e. rotation along the vertical axis of the wheel. It is the self-aligning force of the wheels into the driving direction and is most important for getting the 'classic' feel of the FFB getting lighter when the front tyres lose grip.

So when you want a particular force to stand out in the FFB, raise its relative contribution to the total FFB, and after that adjust the Spindle Master Scale value if necessary to get the FFB stay within the full range (i.e. not clipping or getting too weak).

Stupid you have to remake a new profile for every car though one at a time....

Shame about the above No need to lock threads or act like man child's defending game to the death.
Game was definitely released too early needs more Polish.
On a related note note are there figures to say how well game has sold?

Should be fine at 1080p. I've got a 7970 TwinFrozr 3 and a 2500k, both stock, and the game has always run decently for me, even pre-release. I'm not one to spend ages monitoring FPS (never checked in this game) and I can't remember what the graphics settings are, but the game looks good and plays smoothly.

I haven't played this since one of the early builds, just using my xbox controller at the moment and I have to say I am enjoying it. I am more of an arcade racer (forza) so its a bit more of a challenge.

Is everyone recommending a wheel to use with this? Would a Logitech G27 be upto the job?

Arknor it was posted in previous page, but iirc the ffb can be saved to either

- 1 car, All tracks
- 1 car, selected tracks

How do you get it to apply to all cars?

Thanks

I am not getting a smooth experience with this unfortunately, particularly when compared with the likes of R3E which is as smooth as a baby's bottom. Microstutter is the order of the day.

Is anyone else having issues? It's always been like this for me throughout my time as a backer for the project.

I'm running a GTX980, 8gigs of Ram, Win 7 ultimate, Intel i7-2600k and an ultrawide monitor (2650x1080) with a Corsar AX1200 PSU. Graphical details adjusted so frame rate is always well over 60fps.

WMD forums was full of over zealous members whom you even mentioned anything bad about the game in the final months got right grumpy.

The ones that were complaining about PS4 ghosting, no X1 footage and Ps4 /X1 DF footage showing a ton of screen tearing were, quite frankly treated with contempt and made out to be fools, made worse by Senior SMS staff being totally out of order IMO.

I have rather decent monthly disposable income for video gaming, so I took the plunge and ordered the game on PS4 anyhow. £44.99 on PSN, in hindsight I think I should have purchased a retail copy, but SMS locked all the interesting cars into pre order bonuses.. Sneaky buggers.

Anyhow, ALL the complaints raised about the game in the WMD forums regarding consoles were all true and now the offical forums are a flood of complaints.

Put simply, in the final year or so of development, and the final months running up to release the WMD community become so protective the geniue issues raised were just totally overlooked or ignored for the time being.

What I do think is that SMS have some rather talented folks working for them, and I hope that they are now busy working to fix the issues reported as if not I do not see them getting much praise for Project Cars 2 - which was announced not even before the first game hit stores (it was announced possible fund raising would take place, its not been offically announced for the record)

Oh wow, really, I didn't realise it was not A4, wow that is sorta crummy actually.

Not just me then.

Check out the replys in these threads, noticing the thread I posted was locked.

Someone else started the exact same thread.

The community there is horrible with mods trolling paying customers and liking troll comments. Crazy.

Two of the choice replies:
It gets displayed how you feel neccesery, If you are a true fan then you cherish it, if your not that impressed then bin it, cant please everyone unfortunately....

Personally I payed two thousand euro for this "Tin" and so called "crappy pamphlet" but I for one am extremely proud to have it sitting on my shelf.

I would show people the book while I played the game with my awesome BMW M1. But that's me.

I guess I'm just saying, what you had in your head might be a little unrealistic. Certainly you weren't expecting a coffee table book that you could pass on to your grandchildren. I feel you got exactly what was described, sans spine.

Erm wow. Well Im sure he got true value for money. Along with a game with busted pit crew, broken races (try a qualifying round and get a last flying lap in - you'll see) and countless other stuff missing or broken - but least he gets to be proud of it sat on his shelf. Jeez. Some folks.

He paid two thousand euros for a return on his investment.

he's to financially involved to speak the truth

1 car, All tracks
- 1 car, selected tracks

each car has it's own pofile.

you save 1 car to all 16 tracks.
then you choose another car setup the ffb and do the same.
rinse and repeat for as many as you can be bothered.
