*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

I'm definetly up for this love abit of online racing, been waiting for this game for years, was all gtr2 for me before, then gave it up as there was nothing that could match it, hope this is the one as it's taken long enough.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but why has project cars disappeared off my steam library? I remember paying about £12 or £14 for it ages ago and i was under the impression i owned the game for life. Now all i've got is a 50% off ticket in steam. WTF

You originally purchased a Junior, or maybe Team member, tool pack which originally entitled you to a discount equivalent of you tool pack purchase price of the game once it was released.I think that was made clear from the very start. But because of the way Steam does discounts it has been changed to a percentage discount instead.

You would have had to have bought the €50 tool pack to have been entitled to the full game on release.

Can't make tonight, I'm working but anyone up for a race Sunday morning/afternoon? I'm thinking mixed class so it evens up our paces a bit and keeps the racing interesting :)

Well you did better than me I bought the tool pack in 2011 and didn't get any discount at all. I should have done but never transferred to steam when it happened. It was only after release I dug through their forum to find the original post. Bah

You should have a STEAM Code somewhere in your WMD Forum Profile, just log in to their Old Official Forums and click on your Profile Tab :)

Me and Doofer were in for at least 2 hours before you joined. Despite me posting on here and on the Steam page.

It's always the same with racing sims on this forum, plenty of people show an interest, but virtually nobody shows up to race.

There's also something weird with this game online, I did a couple of races on the OcUK server and another random one. When I was following other cars they appear to wobble as they go along.

I think this is more of an issue with social racing. There are nights I just can't do, Tuesday is flight sim night and I race in leagues on 2 other nights. No way will these get dropped for social racing sadly. Tonight is AC over at SimRacing.org.uk before you pick tonight ;)

I understand that, I only have certain nights when I can actually game at all.

Even so, in the past with other sims there have been races organised well in advance and players who said they were in didn't show up. So you end up with 5 or 6 drivers with a massive difference in skill who end up with no one to race against.

I'm not complaining or surprised, I'll just stick to iRacing for driving online.

1pm Session if anyone is interested, apologies for the short notice, I meant to post last night.

See you there to anyone who can make it.

Llama, I agree that a schedule/calendar of events is needed which is something which needs to be worked on.

Pick up racing is OK but a more organised approach is needed to get the most from the community.

I was thinking about this last night when no-one was joining, that perhaps if it was a Passworded Server instead of a White-Listed Server then we could then try and fill it up with people from our Friends Lists by inviting them on? Not sure if people would go for that or not? You still wouldn't be racing Vs. complete idiots which is the problem with the Public Servers. I know last night when just Barmyllama and I were on waiting for others that 3 of my 'Friends' started up ProjectCARS and started playing, I could have easily thrown them an invite just to fill the Server up if it was just Passworded and not White-Listed, they don't use OcUK AFAIK, I just know them all from previous Races etc. and know they all treat other Racers with respect.

Another thing is change the name so it's just easier to Search/Find? At the moment it's a bit..Is it 4 stars of 5 stars? Undercsore or the other one? Plain old OcUK Forum would do, just add one star if you really, really need the stars, us old folks get confused real easy see... :p

Just ideas I'm throwing in to see what others think?

I genuinely believed there would be enough players to support our own server with a little planning.

There were plenty of WMD backers and this thread was for the most part, quiet active.

Maybe a thread rename would help perhaps? The op has done a runner, not been seen since Feb last year. Or maybe even a new thread completely?

There are 11 on the whitelist but I have only seen 4 of us active.

A password would be an option should there not be enough of us, maybe even have it public at certain times of day although the moderation tools are pitiful, you can ban and kick. For this to work though, we would need an admin presence at all times while the server is public.
