*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Latest build is out in patch form, not noticing a whole lot of changes so far though.

i guess you didnt notice the two new ovals, a much improved UI and the ability to tweak with all the FFB settings (through editing an XML file in notepad)

tweaking the FFB has made a massive difference to me, i'm running about a second faster round bathurst than i was in the most recent builds, roughly equal to my pace when i set the world record

i'll see if the devs are happy for me to share my FFB setup with you guys :)

I haven't played it yet, I just read the build release notes earlier on today and noticed that a track had been added.

the team member patch only came out a few hours ago so the server might be a bit overloaded. however, i didnt have that problem a few hours ago

It's all sorted now tha is reaper was a anti virus/malware blockage problem.
Had a very quick go lastnight it's very pretty for a unfinished game gonna race some cars and see how I get on handling wise.
Any good cars to recommend or settings?

Spa looks SHOCKING! Thats a really bad rendition to be honest.

once the trees are sorted it should look a lot better. a track in the middle of a forest isnt going to look great on a game where the trees are rubbish (even the devs said the trees are rubbish)

if you're feeling brave then take the stock car round bathurst. i like it with 66% front brake bias and a final drive of 4.62.

i've also changed the FFB so that:
SteeringTrail="0.0000"
MzScale="1.002"
(the rest are the default settings that are floating around the forum somewhere).
its not perfect, but it gives me a good feeling of when the tyres are losing grip

if you want a more manageable drive then i've always liked the Racer L4 round wisconsin (road america). i'm not sure what i do with the setup other than putting the downforce to minimum

Trees and on track shadows do look terrible to be brutally honest but otherwise the game looks incredible, especially the cockpit interiors.

I'm glad they finally tidied up the menus for display, controls and gameplay settings etc they used to be all over the place. It seems I'l have to do a lot of tweaking for the ffb, it's still too weak and numb in many cars.

This game sure does give your GPU some hammer..

because of the new lighting engine there are problems with shadows and any objects with a noticeable alpha channel. this means that trees and far away crowds look pretty poor right now amongst other things. obviously these are high up on the "we need to fix this" list

they need to sort some of the corner cutting you can do on certain tracks.

on some you can go through full blast without slowing down on full blown corners :confused:

Still can't get on with the handling, I do well to complete one lap without leaving the track.

what car are you using? some are a lot easier than others

the racers are probably the easiest to drive while the road version of the stock car is probably the easiest to recover from sliding (which it seems to do permanently)

if changing to an easier car doesnt work then just pretend that you're learning a track and spend lots of laps gradually building up from a very slow speed.
