Anyone having problems when downshifting? I'm not sure if it's a simulation of clutch drag but everytime I downshift I seem to lose the back end (Caterham R500). I am downshifting on the straight and it always tries to spin left or right, 90% of the time I can't catch it and I spin out.

Using a G25 with Clutch/Manual shifter. I do tend to also have it when upshifting too but I've managed to keep it under control by shifting slower.

Might be to much brake balance to the rear, to much weight transfer going to the weight front causing the rear end to get light and locking up, my recommendation is to be gentle on the brakes.

In general the R500 is a bitch of a car all round, when i get around to trying the new event combo (Caterham R500 @ Derby) i will try and give some tips on how to drive the car smoothly.

Thanks mate, I'll have a bash at the brake balance settings next session. I've posted the question on the WMD forums, seems I'm not the only one who is experiencing this.

Originally I thought I was hitting the limiter when downshifting but it happens when shifting down into any RPM range really (Not so much below 3k)

i used to have that problem for downshifts even with autoclutch on, but its easily cured by a blip of the throttle while downshifting.

never had a problem with upshifts though

ps. new patch out today. looks like theres another oval added to the list

Starting playing this again last night after a 4 week, me and friend started battling over the world record at Moravia with the Asano X4, ended up with me losing out just by 0.101.

Also started on Besos GP with the Palmer Jaguar JP-LM, got the WR by 1.5sec but i am guessing no else has done a lap with the newer version of the track, i did a video towards of the end, enjoy.

im suprised ea havent tried to sue because some of the games car models , sounds etc are blatantly from the shift series which were developed using EA's money and EA arent stupid so they must own the rights to all content they created making the shift games

i'm very happy to be proved wrong here but...
the guys at SMS were originally behind the GTR series under a different name. they then got sucked into EA to make the shift series and after two shift games got out of the hellhole that is EA to make CARS

i know its something like that at any rate, but i couldnt give you specifics and its far too late to go searching for them

SMS are some of the guys from SimBin. The game engine is there own and any licenced cars in pCARS will look like their licenced counterparts in the Shift series. I don't really see how EA can argue that they own anything in pCARS, as far as I know SMS are having to rebuild everything from scratch so EA don't have any claim over any new projects by SMS. Some of the guys at SMS who worked on GTR have build the nordschleife track 5 or 6 times from scratch.

All the shift stuff is just there as placeholders while in development, stuff like engine sounds before they get the actual cars on dynos etc., I'd be very surprised if they left any shift content in by the time they got to release.

I agree but mainly because EA may like to sue them for using "their" content effectively as I'm guessing EA owns all licensed NFS content nevermind which studio made it and how minuscule it is.

That is unless EA Publish this title then anything is game :p

hope EA dont try anything like bully boy tactics before launch . wouldnt suprise me though if they did .

if they did i think it would be later on down te road to maybe force them to sign with them to do a big launch.

EA are not publishing pCARS, that's been officially confirmed by SMS. I think they will self publish the PC version on Steam. Not sure who will do the console version, maybe Atari, since they got SMS to develope the latest Test Drive game.

A deal to complete funding was in talks a few months ago, the reason for the delay is SMS not being prepared to give away any creative control at all.

Anybody running this on a 5870? No point in me forking out just yet if it won't run

easily. even though CARS seems to prefer Nvidia cards you should get at least high settings providing you arent using some crazy resolution

*edit*
just asked my friend who plays the game with a 5870 at 1080p. he seems to use highest settings with shadows off and reflections at low and never goes below 60FPS. even with shadows and reflections higher it stayed at 60FPS for the most part but he turned it down because some tracks are harder on the graphics card than others

no one said they are.
EA paid SMS to make shift + shift 2

EA arent idiots so no doubt they own everything that was created for the shift series.

its blatantly obvious a lot of the models and sounds are the ones they made for shift 1 & 2

the game pretty much looks exactly like the shift series and the majority of the game seems to be just a modified version of what EA paid them to create

how can you say that the models are blatant copies of the NFS ones when you can see progress threads for almost every one? sounds i will agree with the sounds as they are mostly placeholders but you're definitly wrong for the models.

also, its not exactly surprising that shift and CARS look similar because they all use the madness engine and were all made by the same people
