*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Not checked on this in a while, still going well?

Will download the latest build later I guess, not used the g27 in a while :p

no one said they are.
EA paid SMS to make shift + shift 2

EA arent idiots so no doubt they own everything that was created for the shift series.

its blatantly obvious a lot of the models and sounds are the ones they made for shift 1 & 2

the game pretty much looks exactly like the shift series and the majority of the game seems to be just a modified version of what EA paid them to create

I'll address what you've said in order.

Maxilive mentioned EA publishing the game a few posts back.

That is unless EA Publish this title then anything is game :p

I already stated that SMS were having to rebuild everything in pCARS from scratch because EA owned the work they for them previously

I don't really see how EA can argue that they own anything in pCARS, as far as I know SMS are having to rebuild everything from scratch so EA don't have any claim over any new projects by SMS. Some of the guys at SMS who worked on GTR have build the nordschleife track 5 or 6 times from scratch.

I think it's obvious that 2 games about cars using the same game engine and by the same dev team will look and sound similar. Especially when both games contain some of the same licenced cars.

As for the game looking like and sounding like Shift.

As long as it doesn't handle like Shift (which it doesnt) then that's not a bad thing anyway.

Have you played pCARS at all yet?

Alright well had my first taste of PC simming this evening. It was alright. Very pretty but obviously very rough around the edges. Some really weird problems setting up my GT3RS to use 900 degrees of rotation but then I don't really need that much unless I'm drifting, and with the cars currently in the development builds and my current skill level, I'm hardly going to be drifting properly any time soon. AI definitely needs work but with the degree of tweaking they have available I'm hoping for some fantastic AI by release time.

Nice to have karting in a game, though very iffy physics on those from my brief time in them.

Not feeling short changed or anything, and it's pretty nice. One thing that knocked me over was just how loud it is; I didn't change any settings on my audio setup before my first drive and jesus the bass was crazy.

Gonna stick with it and try to get used to the physics before I judge too much. Obviously with 5 years and loads of hours on Forza/T10 physics engines it'll take some time to transition but hopefully I can do it :)

i assume you calibrated the wheel properly in the end (full lock one way then hold your wheel at 90 degrees while pressing the next button for the second bit). if it doesnt go to exactly 900 degrees then dont worry, thats perfectly normal. my G27 usually goes to ~870 degrees on the calibration because of the tiny deadzones at either end of the wheel

even the devs have said that the kart physics are pants. the good news is that they know what the problem is and will look into fixing it once the new tyre model is in

also, i know what you mean with the audio. i usually turn it to master volume at high and engine volume at medium so that i dont get deafened

finally, the devs know full well that the AI are a bit pants right now. hopefully they will get some better pathfinding soon because they seem to have no idea whats around them

good to see you're enjoying the game though :)

I managed to get it calibrated on 360 degrees for racing but for some reason whenever I calibrated it at 900 it ended up going from full lock to full lock with about 20 degrees of movement in the actual wheel, with no change in the other settings of the wheel like saturation or linearity :/ I'm sure I'm just being a huge noob given this is my first weekend on the pc side of things. It's not a huge problem as until a 'stang or something else I can get sideways comes out, I'm not really gonna worry. From what I can tell the steering lock on all the rear wheel drive cars that could have been drifted like the Atoms, Caterhams and Asano X4 is so shallow that there would never be any hope of drifting them anyway, unless they let you ad spacers or steering knuckles to cars as an upgrade pack for drifting which would be all sorts of awesome :D

hmm, i'm not quite sure whats going wrong with your calibration. might be best to ask on the CARS forums.

Awesome.

I wanna see the Fiat Punto GT and Lancia Delta Intergrale

Hi Guys,

I am new to this game and have downloaded the latest build today, but I am having problems getting my G25 to work.

The standard config for the steering wheel is way off and none of the controls work at they should, first gear is 4th, 2nd is 5th, clutch doesn’t work etc etc.

Has anyone else had these problems? I went to configure them in the edit controls bit but it won’t recognise my clutch when I press it.

Guys i just payed he 10 euros for this! but when i click download, i get this messages Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to server1.wmdportal.com:81

why's that?

Cheers :)

Apparently FFB has been a lot better than it is at the moment. They changed something after build 189 I think as around then everyone was raving about the FFB.

I might be being spoilt by hopping between Dirt and pCars but hopefully they sort something out with realFeel or similar.

the two thoughts i have is that either your router is stopping you from accessing the site for some reason (firewall?) or that your antivirus is not letting you access the site. i'm no expert though

have you tried any other web browsers because i havent had that problem in chrome

yes, recently they moved onto a new FFB system that seems to me to be a stop gap between the old system and a new system that they have. with this system you can adjust a lot of the parameters to get something that you like, but its far from perfect.
heres the thread explaining how to tweak the FFB and what all the parameters do: http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?6198-The-FFB-parameter-tweaking-thread

unfortunately the FFB isnt being looked at too closely right now because the devs are hard at work on the new physics model for the wheel. by the sound of things they are using a similar model to iRacing but are getting less data from lookup tables and simulating more things in real time, which is always a good thing. since the new wheel model will change how the FFB feels quite a lot there isnt a lot of work being done on tweaking by the devs

Here is a quick video I made of Azure Coast in Eyefinity :D

I'm pretty fail at driving as I haven't played pCARS in a while and I can barely remember the track so there are a few minor crashes :p

I tried chrome also. but still same problem.. i use avast and Malwarebytes. disabled both but still no joy :(

So who has been trying their luck at the Thrustmaster T500 RS competition. My best so far is 2:03:666 :p

Not great but I will keep going round and round:) Just looked and Mikko has set a new time of 1:50:300. lol
