*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

I did after posting, it has improved things a little but your lap time controlled by the speed of your PC is daft. I'm 12 -20 seconds of my previous pace even with the 360Hz exe.

Even lap to lap it can vary so much it's a joke.

No one is ever going to believe the times being set are due to skill.
Even for people who don't get it now it doesn't mean they won't get it with a full field in the rain when it's added as that's always a huge resource hog. They've also got to add sky yet.

The game is still pre alpha and the devs are aware of the issue, so it will get fixed. You are not buying a game yet, you are buying a tool pack that allows you to test the game at various stages of development and then give feedback to the devs.

Sorry to sound durr!! but i dont understand. i dont have shift2 lol.
Don't get how just by changing the .exe to shift2 makes any difference?
But i'll try it all the same :)

Cheers.

If you right click on the PCARS.exe file and select rename , then change it shift2. When you double click on the pCARS icon your video driver will think that shift2 is starting up. And because Shift 2 supports Crossfire then the pCARS will use Crossfire. The reason pCARS doesn't support multi GPU set ups is because there isn't a profile for it in either the AMD or Nvidia driver.

Thanks for explaining :) so i take it this goes for most games that don't support sli/xfire!

I'll try it out later.

Cheers :)

the really fast lap times will be down to skill (or track cutting) because the slowdown bug is just that, a slowdown. you cannot get faster than normal times from this bug as far as i know

Hey guys,

Did anyone else have problems adjusting to the sense of speed in this game? I’ve come from racing GT Legends, Race 07, Rfactor, Iracing etc and after 2 weeks I still can’t seem to get the cornering speeds right.

Just as an example - I’ll find a braking point for a hairpin and slow the car down for the corner but I either slow down too much or not enough. Can’t seem to get a “feel” for what speed the car is going or how fast I can go around the corner :S

some of the handling could be better when did formula one and b become like driving on butter :p

hopefully they sort that

some of th corners are still to over the top on classed as cutting some you only have to touch like a few milmetres over and lap cancelled this really wouldnt happen.

if you think there's a major problem with the corner cutting then let them know in the relevant track thread and they might do something about it :)

i cant comment on the formula cars because i've barely driven them before and after the update

Looks like the Lotus 49's stability problems have been fixed for the next build

Casey Ringley said:
Lotus 49 changes are in. It uses an inverted A-frame and trailing link for the rear lower suspension element, and what had happened was we lost that A-frame's rearward side somewhere along the line so it was allowing the upright to rotate too much around the forward joint. There was quite a fair amount of rear steer that was making the car unpredictable, especially when things got bumpy. Default setup changed a little bit once that was sorted. Also put in a wider range for fast dampers and added a tiny amount of rear grip.

Latest build (0244) is out but I would advise you give it a miss as it's very unstable. Crashing and freezing all over the place. Uninstalled and going back to 0234. Check the CARS forum for more info.

what time did you download the patch? there were massive problems with the patch which meant it was taken down in the afternoon and reuploaded reasonably soon afterwards. if you downloaded the earlier patch you will need to download the new fixed build 244 and reinstall the entire game from scratch

i've been playing the non broken patch for a little while and only had one random unhandled exception trapped and that was in the new rain setting (physical only and very early WIP at that)

*edit*
ok, looking at the forum people are having major problems with the "fixed" build. the problem i was on about stopped almost everyone from starting up the game, let alone getting into the races. a few dump reps are getting through to the devs so hopefully this will be sorted by monday and a new patch will be released for team members and above when its fixed
