*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

the country road tracks (azure coast and california highway) are also locked for juniors. if you plan on getting the full game after release then its definitely worth getting an upgrade to team or full member because the money you spend will be taken off the price of the game

did they say originally about tracks being locked on junior build ?

so far they have said exclusive tracks for senior+, exclusive cars for team member+ and access to game scripts for manager+, however, they have done access to game scripts for Full member+, exclusive tracks for team member+ and no exclusive cars.

there was a poll ages ago to make the country road tracks exclusive for team member+ because the juniors were getting a hell of a lot for 10 euros

in other news the download is SLOOOOOOOW! i've been downloading for several hours now and i'm just under 3/4 done :(

I'm currently downloading at 3.3MB/s with the auto downloader, no issues there! Not downloaded it in a couple of months now, interested to see the updates.

Last weeks build makes the menu screen run at 15 FPS for me, even though the game runs at 60 FPS when on track.

quite a few people are having performance issues with the new menu, including me to some extent, as well as the obvious graphical issues. the menu will be back to the old pre rendered background in next weeks build as far as i know

is it just me or does cockpit view look way better than the external view with quite a few of the light settings? (clear04 in particular)

I don't know if the way content or changes that are added to the game are similar for all game developments, but it seems to me they just keep adding and adding content that in some ways makes the game more unstable or creates more bugs without fixing known issues first.

i actually tried the latest other day seems very nice

graphics sounds seem better handing seemed decent not bad.

only thing is settings of cars and time gained

cause not everyone understands what each setting does a lot of time can be shaved off . maybe in lower skilled settings these could be set to optimum for new drivers or players.

so if player skill is new car set up is optimum or option for optimum speed wise

if the option is there to turn this off it doesnt effect or make it unfair .

the devs are aiming to give a realistic setup rather than an optimum setup for now. later there will be more added to the tuning guide thats in the game along with a proper tuning tutorial in the driving school which should help the beginners learn what all the settings do

Its probably perfectly normal, but not, at the same time :D
Theres so many people, and they all need to be able to iron out their own bugs, if you waited until someone else in the dept figured out their problem before adding something unrelated, you'd never get anywhere quick.

Where things differ probably, is that i cant imagine that developers create daily builds, where the audience is anything like as wide as pCARS will have, at such an early stage in development.
They'll probably knock out weekly, or fortnightly builds to pass onto their paymaster who'll later be telling them to skimp on accuracy and get it onto shelves to get their return ASAP, and they'll probably do daily compiles for in-house testing, but not available to a community who arent directly involved in the building of it.

Since joining in Feb, i think only the build ~3wk ago was particularly problematic on the whole, there may be bugs & things needing addressing, but not fundamentally flawed and game-ruining. At the same time, theres a community of people wanting these elements adding as soon as sensibly possible. I believe theres going to be a push to get the clouds in next weeks as Andy G seemed to think they're good now despite some minor issues, and theres no harm in adding them for people to see, and still improved upon just as they would be if they werent included.

Jaw on the floor.

Apparently build 260 is out and adds a lot.

Sat here waitng for my fanatec GT3 and CSR elites to be delivered so just upgraded to team member from junior so i can keep up with new builds.

Yeah, seeing the clouds in action is really nice. Had a few moments where things dont look right, usually with clouds that look really low.

First lap around Derby, Th.Storm to Clear 1, 60x, i got half way around the track and on the corner before the long back-straight there was a really low cloud that passed right infront of me, looked like it was on my height too but could have been perspective.
I rewound the replay to see it again, and it was gone, and 2nd time i watched so had the thunder storm, the replay isnt tied with the weather :D

Then later on, i was passed on my right side down the back-straight by a cloud quite clearly using DRS in the wet :D

60x the weather can switch from wet to dry in a lap, and it'll swap again midway through the next. So its not practical in its current state. 10x didnt feel like it was changing at all, but i guess i'd need 6 laps to see the sort of change i'd seen in 1 before, so its probably a more realistic setting if you want the fun of changing weather.

Wet is still a slippery dry, but it gives you a wet weather feeling for slicks, true wet settings when you have no tyre choice would be pointless, so its fun enough in a Rookie imo.

You not using the updater?

Took a hammering that first day, what with Nordschleife in there and being a 3gb fresh install not a 200mb patch etc but its fine now.
You'll find the updater in your My Documents > CARS > Patches folder.
Run that, and it'll do the rest for you.
