The new trees added to Bathurst a few weeks ago seriously hurt the FPS so if they have added those trees anywhere else then expect the FPS to be quite poor.

To get a little FPS back create an .exe to launch pCARS with -skipcrowds after the shortcut location because it gets you a little bit more FPS. you have to do this on the pCARS.exe, not the launcher itself
 
I believe the bathhurst trees have proper dynamic shading or something like that added which is why they cause an fps drop but they look much better than the stupidly bright ones they had previously
 
So, still cant buy into this I take it? Would love to give this game a quick blast, but i'll have to wait some more I guess.

Shift 2 is now being totally worn out lol

Graphics looking very nice as well, seems despite the comments from a few who don't like the title its shaping up nicely..
 
Nope you still can't buy it because the FSA investigation is taking forever.
Maybe I could let you borrow my account for the weekend if you promise not to hijack it and give an honest opinion.

Do you own a wheel at all? You probably wouldn't get a very good experience without one as they haven't properly coded the filtering for pads yet

There's no real single player campaign yet though and the AI is still pretty basic the only good races are online ones

I don't mind buying my own toolpack, I take it the game will be playable eventually with a gamepad? From your comments appears so, I think I'm more curious to just see it actually running after all the screenshots i've seen : - )
 
you have to hold the change camera button down for a few seconds and then it cycles to the next camera group.

I find it quite awful compared to how it was before it would be better if they used a different key for the different camera groupings so you could switch between them faster.

I just had a quick browse of the game controller section of the wmd forum and a lot of people are saying with a pad the steering is very twitchy and not linear enough making a lot of the really fast stiff cars almost undriveable..

No idea when the FSA investigation will be up they are taking absolutely ages,I guess pcars is a low priority for them

You might want to try one of the FXAA configs from
kelnors signature assuming you know how to install FXAA

There is a tweakit.exe in the games folder located at
\pCARS\Tools\TweakIt\
that allows you to change the time of day in real time as well as other stuff
the morning/afternoon sunset times give the best lighting/shadows.
you can also just go into the track options and set the time progression to 360x and the game will go through a full 24 hour day cycle in about as long as it takes you to do a single lap.

there should be a new build up sometime today , the client will auto update once the patch is live at your next login.
also remember the game is still alpha and won't be released for a long long time, maybe not even this year :O

BTW ctrl+F puts you into freecam which is how people take the good looking screenshots

You don't. You are spending 5 quid for netKar Pro (well worth it), and you are rewarded with access to this preview, which they are essentially using as a beta test.

There will be a free demo when the game is released. This is fairly common practice.

That said, I think they made an error by not calling it a beta, because people view it as a demo, and think therefore it should be free.

Perhaps they were planning to make access to the 'beta' free eventually, but as so many people are paying for netKar just to try it, it might be a bad move to make it free at this point.

Its downloading now, i'm going to give it a quick whirl thanks to arknor who has been very trusting, i'm just going to have a look at the visuals, check out a few races and have a go see what this is all about, but every single time I see a post with screenshots, its like - wow good looking game..

i'll let you all know what I think once I've had a quick blast, can't wait - its not downloading quick enough lol
 
lol you will probably be disappointed :P

You will appreciate the effort people put in to make cool videos though seeing as theres no fancy gimmick after effects and its all from what the user can do ingame

then you need a better comp and to learn how to use sweetfx.

tecman can say what he wants anyway makes no difference to me if he thinks its **** as long as he takes into account it's far from being released as a finished game

why i need better comp i can run it max settings fine at my res and it looks nowhere near as good as that footage.

also you just said that no software was used yet within seconds i can tell it is :p .

one thing DG will probably agree with is the engine sounds in pcars right now are pretty crap compared to raceroom and the new iracing cars :S
