Because paying for a demo is cool.
Paying for DLC made after a games release apparently is not even if it prolongs the games lifetime
 
no asking for money to get your game going and made then while in the same alpha you lock content off and announce dlc will be available for extra cost even though the game you paid for isnt finished yet is a joke.

this seems like a EA trick or similar. the game will end up costing you 200 pound to play lol. funny thing is 200 euro people dont get the dlc haha. they proper robbed people on this game .

this will turn into a mess.
 
what is locked off? I think only one car and one track is locked to senior members but you can still do the track if it's part of a weekly hotlap event etc

what game doesn't have dlc expansions these days? non of them are being made until after the game is released anyway and not using the games funding.

200 euro people don't get the dlc but they are likely to get at least twice there money back as well as a copy of the game and no one is forcing anyone to buy DLC if its DLC that doesn't interest you then don't buy it.


even if the game did end up costing you £200 if you wanted all the DLC then it's still far cheaper than something like iracing would cost you.
and no doubt asseto corsa will have dlc aswell , what racing games don't?

The whole thing is a new business model. Seems a very interesting idea but Im not sure its as straight forward as, likely at least twice their money back.

Problem is the biggest selling games are usually considerably dumbed down for the masses. What kind of sales figure do they anticipate needing to breakeven on costs

I reckon bf3 for example, they arent making money on the base game. Its the DLC that is getting them the profits hence the hard sell
 
The money paid was an investment, on going gold in 6-12 months after development (alpha) and refinement (beta) has taken place, the more money you invested the more potential profit can be had from sales. The fact SMS let investors download updated development builds based on their investment amount is not what anyone paid for, in effect it was a "free gift."

In exchange for the "free gift," investors are expected to report back to the official WMD forum with constructive feedback. Posting 4 times in the space of 12 months including asking for a refund hardly meets that criteria.
 
250k copies sold was roughly break even you have to remember the game is being made for less than 5 million euros
will be releases on
ps3 , xbox 360 , wii and pc , maybe ps4 as well so should atleast sell 1million copies which gives everyone a decent return

btw "one years development does not mean one calendar year it means 1 years worth of hours spent developing the game
anyone above full member gets a copy of the game on the format of their choice, anyone under that gets a discount voucher for the amount the toolpack they bought cost.

obviously theres a lot more than 150 people per tool pack for the majority of them and a lot less than 150 for the really expensive ones but everyone gets the same percentage per euro they spent on a toolpack
so I don't know why people are saying the people who bought toolpacks having to buy the dlc are being ripped off.

toolpacks will be sold for the DLC as well according to what has been posted on the forums


everything seems very fare to me, I wouldn't say anyone is being ripped off and the FSA is currently investigating the business model and making sure everything is above board and no one is being taken advantage of

yes the FSA is investigating . a lot of what is was and maybe is very unclear since the start . when anyone asks for money back now which was allowed during alpha phase it was instantly returned .

so its very unclear with how you stand with this game. one of the reasons the FSA was asked to investigate it

A very early version of the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302R1
is Definetly coming in Fridays build

We're working with an outsourcing company (who have access to a 302R and laser scanning equipment, natch!) to produce this model. It's still early early in progress, but far enough along that we can stick it in game to do some test driving. First export and initial physics will be coming in this Friday's build.

The Mitsubishi has been listed in the exports thread but no mention of whether it will be available in fridays patch or if it's only for internal testing

i do have the game who said i didnt have more than one license. assumptions are the mother of you should know that.

yea that was ages when the game had the handling model you liked ;)
I just couldn't get on with it at all back then the cars felt like they were super glued to the track and the physics seemed really basic like the cars had unrealistic gravity forcing them to stay glued to the track at all times even if you hit a kerb at high speed
 
Today's build was team member+ and the two new cars are in.

Not sure if its my imagination or the graphics have changed?
the reflections seem a lot more real ,and the lighting shadows seem to have changed?
 
I've not played this for quite a while (Hate the way it handles since they messed the tyres up) but decided to give it a blast tonight, anyway after numerous 'Updates' I finally jumped on to a favourite track and chose a car I'm really familiar with, but I couldn't get the bonnet cam? I could get all sorts of fancy camera angles except the simple bonnet cam, any ideas how to get this back?

Also, the only thing really going for this game (IMO) was the graphics and now it has become really jerky and for some reason I'm getting horrific pop-up (This was most noticeable on watching a TV Camera replay, really low-res car model suddenly pops into the normal high-res model) Never had any problems like this with the graphics before, any ideas?
 
I had the same two issues last time I tried Pcars, I found that the cameras have been split into groups, and you need to cycle through the groups and then through the cameras within each group separately to find the camera you want.

As for the lower FPS and pop-up I believe they have added quite a lot of small but graphics intensive bits and bobs, and these have taken a toll on smoothness, if you back off some of the graphics settings you should be able to get it back to how it was before.
 
Low res cars suddenly popping up as high res is because the LOD for all distances in some cars isn't finished.

Try using V sync to reduce stutter and be aware that some tracks run a lot better than others. Even the tracks that are well down the development cycle run better in some areas than in others.

I believe they separated some of the graphics options as well so theres more stuff to turn down for the people who can't handle all the new reflections etc on the highest setting anymore.

Car's popping between models is as the above poster says not all cars have all the different Level Of Detail models yet so they flip between the lowest LOD and the highest LOD rather than slowly changing between multiple different model LOD's that you wouldn't be able to notice normally.

one of the dev hinted at 2 surprises for the easter build btw
one of the devs wrote something that suggests there could be a new track in the easter egg hunt thread which if true could possibly be macau gp
