After playing it for quite a few hours on the latest build, coming back from a few Months back, it seems clear to me that a few cars handle quite well on certain tracks but if you happen to choose a bad car on a bad track then you're SoL, the problem for me with PCARS is, the cars and tracks that I prefer all seem to be the ones that are broken which is where I think the quite bizarre Love/Hate Marmiteness of it comes out in these Forums.
I thought about giving away my account but even though I'm not liking the game at all the way it is, I also don't like the way they seem to pour all effort into new or tweaking already 'Fixed' stuff and neglecting things they borked badly a while back. I think it still has some promise but this I think is mainly due to the poor competition rather than the actual product itself.
I also have in mind that pandering to the (I hate to say it but..) Elitist crew with their 'Uber realism- Must have a Wheel/Pedals and drive in a Race-Suit with fireproof gloves' will actually be the destroyers of the game, as if it doesn't appeal to the MASS Market (Players with Gamepads, 8 cans of lager and a pizza box on their lap), it won't sell and be forgotten in the graveyard of all the games that have gone the same way before it, which really would be a shame.

yeah slightly mad need to appeal to the masses sadly , just wish I'd purchased an account back when I had a weaker system as I've used someone else's account to test it out and it appeals to me, sadly won't have access for much longer ...

Couldn’t find an account for sale, really wasn’t happy I missed out on the one that was going for sale, guy sold it to someone else so well and truly got gazumped on that one.. I didn’t act quick enough as I was reading bed time stories to my daughter before I put her to bed, she’s more important then a racing game anyhow..
So, after hours of searching last night to find one, gave up and used the account I was loaned to give the Audi Touring cars a good going over. Heusden provided some really good races even with the dodgy AI.
I’m not sure what the gripes are about the AA, its not something that bothered me but took a look again last night, I think what bothers me the most is the flickering shadows but for some tracks that isn’t so much of an issue, and I do not like the flat looking trees in places, they have absolute no depth to them.
But where the track feels more complete such as Heusden or even Spa, the trackside crowds are really good. I do also like the grass. As for jaggies, I’ve not noticed anything that looks ugly other then the flat looking trees in places.
It is a shame I’m using a gamepad, however to be honest, how many would buy a game like this and use a gamepad? Millions if the game is a success, so slightly mad do need to appeal this to the masses. I just don’t see how a full on proper racing sim like this would make sense if they just focused on elitist players. Having no auto pit stops, no ability to make it more playable and no auto gears, driving lines etc you’d alienate too many and lose too much in sales.
Is this game meant to be going up against iracing? I thought it was going after the core GT5 and Forza Markets? If the latter, they are going in the right direction, if they are going for simbin (raceroom for example) or iracing then considering those two games are near impossible with a gamepad and Pcars is VERY playable with a gamepad, then erm can see why some don’t like it..!!

Wow really, thats impressive. Still I guess if you mess about with the correct settings you could make it playable. I tried RaceRoom and I swear.. that game was totally unplayable with a gamepad. I tried all sorts of settings, and just decided to give up on it.

Yes I was just saying if the hardcore sim racing crowds had their way, none of those features would be included... but you are correct, those features are in the game, and without them Id say the sales would plummet.

Ah fair enough. I havent been keeping an eye on the forums so much recently so I didnt realise some people actually wanted that. I'm sure that the devs are smart enough to see sense regarding making things easier for the casual players though
Well I took these and these are right out of the game and zero added from me, not even sweetfx, I did nothing other then launch the game, hit replay and take a few screenshots using the ingame fancy camera that allows you to roam around...
I've even took one from incar. This game is VERY good looking, I do not understand the comments about it has poor graphics..??

i think the only problem is with the AA. Its not bad, but there is room for improvement looking at those screenies. i dont know what setting you used though so it might just be that you can get better AA in game
Its set to high or ultra for a few settings and DSX2 sampling mode, basically a setting my laptop could run the game at an acceptable fps, which the spec is in my sig. I just wanted to show the game as it is when playing to give an idea on how it looked, i've seen many screenshots for projects cars, and some of the look out of this world, but they've maybe applied lots of processing and all sorts to get them that good looking..
the AA is a bit hit n miss and it could be improved, but its not that bad. Seen a whole lot worse..

had a play yesterday with the lotus on classic spa not bad some angles my drivers head was missing completely and that was one of my main driving positions.
liked the track though and the car wasnt bad.
so wish they would tweak handling and braking . braking should be just foot down stop. why have different braking settings no real point. just make it work and work well.
had a few laps in the ruf supposed to be porsche 911 (probably not got the license for it yet so called ruf) body roll is terrible and a lot of the views arnt great while driving in it. so yes pretty early in work but needs a lot of adjustment.
my actual favourite car at moment is the capri.
some of the sounds are terrible ! probably only place holder sounds but they need a lot of work focus sounds like a v8 and v8s sound like 1 litre fiestas

Game does need a lot of work, the engine noises are going to be from what I was told being all reworked, there is a lot of place holders in the game, lots is missing...

most of the cars have open setups for the brakes, so try fiddling with the brake balance and pressure if just stomping on the brakes isnt working for you. Generally I find that I need to shove the brake balance forwards in some cars because they will spin under braking.

There won't be any licenced Porsche cars in pCARS, as far as I know. I'm fairly sure that EA still have the exclusive licence for that, which is why pCARS has the RUF licence instead.

Nearly all racing games use RUF instead of porsche because porche is hard to get.
Even gran turismo 4 has RUF instead of porsche.
Do porsche have the exclusive deal with EA? I know one company does but cant remember if its Lamborghini or porsche
