*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

best thing is to just grab a car and a track , turn all the assists off and try to stay on the road and don't panic if you start to lose grip try letting off the accelerator for a second sometimes that will let you get enough grip to stay on the road.
Theres a lot more technique and skill to being fast with a wheel where as almost anyone is instantly quick with a pad/keyboard.

A wheel takes time to master and you need to learn to be smooth, with a pad you can pretty much full lock into the corners with a wheel if you full lock the wheels will just be at a huge slip angle and get no traction.

The FFB in pCARS is still a bit of a work in progress, some cars are better than others and there are various tweaker files posted on the forums you can use.

If you want to try another sim to get a feel for the wheel, I would suggest Live for Speed or Netkar Pro. You can get free demos of both :)

I'll have a look tonight, might have to wait until missus goes to bed, she did complain a lot over the weekend, as I totally hammered this game during the evenings once the baby was asleep, got well hooked on it..

I think its set to defaults, so i'll have to check out the settings. It was very tricky to drive the car.

A car like the L4 Racer is a good one to start with when new to a wheel. Also try intermediate setting.

Had it set to Pro, set it to novice which is what I had it set to for gamepad, but its now reset and managed to get on much better last night..

Noticed that if its raining or not raining makes no difference other then to the fps, car control is the same, so guess they've not got wet or dry working quite right yet.

Oh and dropping from SMAA to FXAA and reflections to medium meant I could play the game at better fps when it was raining, yet it looks absolutely no different.. Well to my eyes anyhow. Bathurst in the wet was woeful performance, 20 fps or less, knocked down reflections and usig FXAA at high and now it runs along at 35+ fps max everything else DX2 etc.. weird but works for me, much more playable in the wet now.

i had a good go again yesterday again got somekind of decentish settings some cars okay on some tracks but i think ill just stick to playing this on xbox pad.

can get to like 1:50 with f1 on my fav track but still few secs off but any changes to handling cars either just spin out or do weird stuff. on xbox pad its just so much less hassle which annoys me :p.

Hello WMD and pCARS members.

Following lengthy discussions with the FSA and our lawyers and other professionals, we are going to make some changes to pCARS and WMD.

The finer detail has not been finalised but recent comments have made us decide to make one feature of WMD and pCARS very clear to all members.

That is that anyone who is a member can have their money back at any time.

As many of you know that has always been our policy - though we haven't promoted the fact, for obvious reasons. However whoever has asked for it has got it and we figured that you should all know you have that option.

If you want to you may choose to remove yourself from pCARS now or you may choose to stay - and if you want to stay then please give us a little time to put the finishing touches to the structure.

The choice, however, is yours.

If you would like to leave WMD and the pCARS development system now please inform Vittorio Rapa by PM who will arrange your refund.

Thanks for your support and thanks to our advisers for their advice over the last few months.’

==========
One of the FSA rules must be that everyone is allowed a refund if they want one up until the game ships.

Not sure about the bit I bolded since someone on here recently claimed they couldn't get a refund

Also

Is now in place.

190 Evo :)

If they get too many refunds might they open up membership again I wonder. Seems silly now I never got a £10 license just to play around with it

I know several people who asked for refunds and got them without any trouble, maybe your mate was being a gobby ****.

maybe you just asume too much

he just asked nicely for a refund and the guy in charge said basically he has played the game to long and wasn't allowed a refund :rolleyes:obviously now the legal people have been in i guess they changed there mind :p

They had planned to open for a weekend for everyone who missed out but expressed interest via emails etc.

I guess it is still the plan once all the FSA stuff is cleared up and the business model is given the full go ahead

I did ask for refund but got refused because i had the toolpack for too long. Better get my refund now :)

See my PM below and you can see clearly that i was very polite!

Hi Vittorio Rapa,
I am currently a team member but i am sturggling to get on with the game and not contributing towards the project so therefore i would like to ask for refund please. Any help in this matter will be much apprecaited in advance.

Re: Refund request please
Hello, it looks like that your Tool Pack purchasing happened more than a week ago, so a refund is not possible.

Are you able to sell accounts?

some chap did, on this forum but did in a way that breached rules of the forum, I actually offered to buy it, then someone else jumped right on in and didn't even consider my offer which not only breached rules, but also was rather rude..

Anyhow, from what I'm reading the FSA are only interested on how to catalog what Slight Mad are doing..

It seems they or slightly mad were without publisher after shift 2. so devised a cunning plan they or their CEO so called it a cunning plan and worked out a method for the public to fund their next title..

FSA got involved and now some think its a ponzi scheme, however I just think it s a developer that likes to develop good looking racers..

Although, I've heard one chap has invested something like 41K?? £50 or something far enough but this chap remortgaged his home..

Still, seems with each build something else gets added so hopefully the plug isn't pulled and this project is not so much project CARS but project FSA..

Thats very odd, they have let people who owned the toolpack for much longer than a week leave before, even when it wasnt because of computer problems not letting them play the game

i guess you can get your refund for sure now though :)

yea lol some people are crazy , the manager packs are the only ones considered an "investment" though and they have a proper written contract.
per euro invested everyone gets the same return though just some people have more of them than others, those 1k+ crazy people stand to make a hell of a lot of money if the game hits just 1 mil sales.

some of them are absolutely stinking rich there's a thread over there to post your real life cars and someone is clearly only in England for an education and obviously from some oil rich middle east country, there's a few real life racing drivers as well although not famous but clearly well off enough to make you wonder why these people are turning to games when they could happily afford to do it all in real life.

New build up lots of changes , you can now select the different tyres from ingame instead of using exe flags

Formula C placeholder added for physics testing
fantasy car to fill the F3 gap I believe.

Not sure if it still looks like this but this was one of the previews a dev showed I think last week

BTW graphics obviously look crap as the devs don't seem to run the game on full settings when they are testing stuff

I hope I spot it in time if that happens
if the game hits just 1 mil sales.
Thats quite ambitious for a game without a publisher, will steam host it

Is the game basically in Beta now

Arma 3 got chucked out unfinished and payments taken, but they did it more formally I guess.
