Just wondering, is this game anything like Gran Turismo? Do you earn money and upgrade your car/buy new ones?

Been looking for a game like this for a while, but I don't think there is anything like it on PC. Last game using such a mechanic was Flatout Ultimate Carnage. Such a great game that was, though it is more arcadey and less simulation.

Edit: I just noticed a post that answered my question to my disappointment.

Don't get it, I feel the part of buying upgrading a car is one of the most fun aspects of a racing game in my opinion.

I agree with you, but this would mean locking all the cars at the start of the game and PC crowd does not like this kind of thing...

The majority would rather just get on with the racing.

Well that is truly a shame :(

Only so many times I want to go round and round a track (talking about offline play), upgrades and buying new cars is good motivation to keep playing.

This is why I can never watch F1, boring hell :p:)

*shrug* Not many care. No point developing it for such a minority crowd, frankly. No shame about it.

You can just arbitrarily limit yourself, if you want. Only permit tyre types and whole cars after you've won certain types of races.

Would it be such a minority though ?
Forza and GranTurismo did extremely well with that model, even then you could always do time trials and such to access higher tier cars in GT.

I think if something the likes of Forza or Gran Turismo were to come out on PC it would far out sell any previous car game we have had.

" Despite the help of the race coach, Project Cars still feels like it has a major flaw – handling. "

:D only said this for 2 yrs plus :p

going to bomb on release as they haven't listened for last 3yrs. so last month wont change it.
Wondered how long it would be before you couldn't resist playing that broken record again. Get over yourself.

Yes. This was a crowd developed game and it didn't make the vote.

fair enough if they were trying to please their supporters, but my 2nd point still stands....unless it outsells Forza or GT then i'm just clearly wrong :p

:) I do get the point, but Forza/GT are primarily for the single player, arcade market. They aren't the same breed as a thoroughbred sim (of which I have my doubts pCars fits in this category as well mind!) for the multiplayer, player vs player market.

I've been hammering Project CARS for the last week or so just to try and force myself to like it, the problem is, there's just so little to do, there's no hook to grab your attention for any length of time, racing with the AI gets old fast, Time Trials are futile with a gamepad and it's also pointless me doing any Multi-Player races as the wheel users are always 3-4 secs a lap faster...

Yeah it looks absolutely stunning but I just can't forgive the bizarre handling of most of the Cars with a gamepad, I don't want to have a big awkward steering wheel taking up my limited space to play the game as it can only keep me interested for 20mins(maximum) at a time.

I really wanted the game to succeed but I just can't see it happening, the things they are doing with pre-Launch DLC and taking stuff out, not giving any concrete answers at such a late stage as to what Members will actually get just bolsters the overall negative vibe the game gives me. I can already see it as a £6.99 STEAM Sale Game with all the DLC at £0.99p a pop in 6 Months the way it's going. :(

Anyone active on Pcars at the moment? id done a few races on career mode and was quite enjoying it, but, today ive noticed when i try and enter my career it CTDs... anyone else had this or seen it mentioned on the official forums?
