Cable braiding tutorial

In terms of performance, absolutely nothing it just looks cool :) People paint their fans, pick coloured liquid etc just another step in modification.

Well I think it looks amazing. So, in additio to buying a new rig and water coolingit for the first time in my life, I will now have to braid everything, coz it looks so great.

Thanks for the guide. Hope I will be OK with 4 mm for most of the wires.

I've found somewhere that sells complete braiding kits (includes various lengths and diameter braid plus various diameter heatshrink) for £15 and I'm very tempted. Something to do on a long Sunday afternoon :D

Anyone every braided / heatshrinked a headphone cord?

Just got a pair of expensive bose headphones and the cable doesn't look particularly strong, want to try and prevent it breaking.

Would it still be flexible with braiding over?
 
i doubt rimm3r is still waiting for an answer on this (2 months on) but yes, ive braided a headset cable, no its not as flexible, but its still very usable (i prefer it with the braiding, the cable doesnt tangle or get stuck in my chair wheels)!!!
 
I was braiding the cables on the I/O of my 650D a while ago, I sort of melted some of the connectors (audio was the worse), not got to try it out yet. Hopefully it'll work. Next time I think I'll use an hairdryer!
 
Id guess, just do one at a time or google for an electrical diagram of the connector you are braiding! Safer just to do one at a time as it's no faster or slower?

Thanks for the guide, looking to get some stuff to do the cables in my build but wont need much thanks to my Corsair AX PSU Already coming fully braided and all black cables to boot ;)

Also, anyone know where to get the material braiding vs the plastic stuff? IS that what the MDPC stuff is? I dont like the look and feel of the plastic...
 
I'm in the process of braiding my AX750 at the 'mo. I decided to use 3.2mm red paracord and I'm glad I did because it looks great. The problem with braiding the AX series of PSU's are the double cables. By that I mean 2 cables going in to a single pin at one end and two pins at the other. That requires some soldering.
 
Ah thats the stuff I was talking about, paracord! Just looking at some stuff, and now you got me thinking I could do this to my AX750 too! :D

Not too bothered about soldering, it's not too difficult, just a pain in the arse. You going to do the SATA cables and stuff with paracord too?
 
I plan to braid the hell out of everything. :D Front panel, HD audio, SATA cables, fan cables and anything else I can find. I'm also toying with the idea of buying some white paracord and using an acid dye to get them the exact colour I want. I was thinking of dyeing them so I've got alternating shades of red.

Forgot to mention, I'm using the heatshrinkless method which, whilst it looks nice, can be tricky.
 
Hmm, for anyone else out there wondering about SATA with paracord, have you guys heard of accessory cord? It goes up to 10mm diameter. Might order some and see what happens. Also just seen bungee cord, could work!
