Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Decided I need a new headset. Not being able to hear footsteps is killing me. What are people using that footsteps are easy to hear from behind? Cheers

No point IMO. Give it another few weeks and everyone will be running covert sneakers.

But to answer your question, I actually use a set of Beyerdynamic DT770’s. Super comfy with velour ear cups and both the cup pads and headbands are replaceable. I have a mod mic installed for voice but I never use it.

Sometimes I use my old QPAD QH90’s if I want more punchy sound. These are now rebranded as Hyper X cloud II I think? Mine are falling apart but then again I have had them since 2013! Sound is still fine but the coating on the cups and headband is peeling off.

If you go for a more audiophile set I’d recommend you look at 32ohm or below unless you are going to drive them through an amp.

The Covert Sneakers are the best thing in this game compared to MW2. I can now run around and be aggressive without being heard from 20 metres away.

Right so basically you want to have zero negative consequences for being completely silent all of the time but still be able to run around at full speed? They can’t be countered and there are pretty much zero negative consequences for running them. In terms of balancing that’s the very definition of OP.

I expect a nerf will be incoming very quickly. Either to further limit loadout, reduce movement speed etc or for them to be quiet but not silent. Perhaps even a counter of some type with something like bone conduction.

Yes I do want to be able to run around with silent footsteps. As I've had to put up with elephant footsteps for a year with MW2, it's nice to not have super loud footsteps.
I would take quieter footsteps. So have them like Ninja rather than Dead Silence.
As it stands base footstep audio is far too loud. You can pinpoint somebody's exact location through multiple walls. That's the main issue.

I agree, base footsteps are too loud but the answer isn’t to counter that with totally OP perks.

Seems like an odd design choice given how much easier reducing base footstep volume would be, but that’s just me.

We always had silent footsteps as a perk - going back to COD4.

It was only MW2 2023 and MW2019 that IW decided to change Dead Silence / Ninja to a field upgrade.

The idea of going back to waiting for my field upgrade to be available so I can run silently around the map without some sentinel sat in a corner waiting to get his 4th kill in a 15 minute game is just nauseating to me. So many MW2 2023 TDM games that just ended by the timer rather than the kill limit because of it - it just encourages everyone to play slowly when you can hear every footstep across the map and the counter is just waiting.

Having a perk that gives you silent footsteps is needed and it's great that we have the choice. I use them on around 50% of my classes but I actually find the Stalker sneakers are incredible for the strafing speed advantage you get with them. It catches a lot of people out when you suddenly strafe much quicker than their expecting.

The issue is bone conduction is a bit useless as they're still completely silent, they should cancel each other out or at least make it something like 50-70% volume. I remember in the original MW3 (2011) sitrep pro cancelled out dead silence.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but previous silent movement perks have always had a counter? Covert Sneakers has no counter (that I’m aware of).

Not against a silent movement perks/field upgrades per se, I’m just saying they need to be properly balanced.

I've really been enjoying a few stints on this over the weekend, mainly on terminal 24/7. Good memories, movement feels good and I've even managed some respectable scores :)

Spawns on hardpoint are really strange - and domination spawns seem to flip too easily. It seems that Sledgehammer have acknowledged it though and there will be changes coming soon for spawns which is great!

I'm really enjoying it, it feels great to be playing the old maps from 2009 and running with a 4 man party on Search and Destroy has been really enjoyable. Outside of the unbelievable SBMM I really do look forward to playing it.

Gradually working my way through levelling up all of the weapons, almost finished the assault rifles and then onto the SMGs.

I hate all these attachments on the guns , i cannot see any defference
Being using the MCW its utter terrible , you shoot someone and the damage is ***** even at close range
MCW is a great AR! What are you using with it? There are a few really strong ARs (Holger is slow but hits hard, DG58 will get nerfed at some point to reduce the 1 burst) - but outside of those two, the MCW is my go-to assault rifle.

I only ever use the Holger in SnD - and the DG58 if I'm playing against someone who is spawn camping / also using it.

Ive been playing around with the MCW for hrs but i cannot get the right results , when i am locked on to the enemy player and shot the aim always goes above the head of the player , maybe i am doing something wrong ?

It's a pretty static AR in terms of recoil, I like using iron sights on my one but you can swap the rear grip for an optic if preferred.

Can anyone help me with controls please?

I have a strange issue where double clicking R3 reloads my gun and I don’t want it to. Annoying as hell in a fire fight when I die because it makes me reload.

I’m using tactical layout so R3 is actually bound to Slide/change stance. Reload is actually bound to square.

But for some reason a double click of R3 instigates a reload. I’ve looked all over the settings and can’t seem to see a way of turning this off (I should note I also can’t see an option for turning on double click R3 to reload either).

Any ideas?

Does anyone else experience issues joining friends in-game? I receive their invites but when joining it just seems to hang on 'Joining game session'. Sooner or later having juggled the host around we are eventually all able to game together.

Out of three of us two are able to join one another without issue, for these two I sometimes appear offline, despite being in a party together. We all have open NAT types.

No issues joining party to chat etc. Unsure if this is a network issue or a COD issue?

Thanks.
