Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone (Battlenet ID's in OP)

My brother has been playing fine on a i5-2500k and GTX 970 GPU and 4x4Gb RAM. He has since built a new machine with an AMD 1600AF, 2x8Gb ballistix RAM, Gigabyte RX 590 GPU and MSI tomahawk Max. He keeps getting kicked for a Dev error 6068 now although mid build the new update arrived so we are unsure if it's related to the new build or the new update.
Having searched on wider internet, it seems a common problem again and no sign of a fix.

So far we have tried:
  • lowering graphics settings.
  • Lowering max GPU speed in adrenaline (maybe should do this in afterburner?)
  • changing video memory scale to 0.5
  • changing RAM speed.
  • all other games play perfect.
Other info, windows 10 is installed on one drive and have a separate drive for game installs.

Any other suggestions or can others advise what has worked for them. It's driving him bonkers.

If he tries his i5-2500k machine again, do the problems go away?

Unfortunately we can't test that now as he sold it on. He has poor internet at home so it's taken the best part of a week doing updates. I'm trying to get him to drop it off to my house and I'll start from scratch then take it from there. At least I have 70mb internet so should have the bulk done by tomorrow.

I was having difficulties with crashes and also performance. I'm running a I5-4690k, 32gb of Ram and a GTX 1070 on Windows 10 latest version. Performance was shocking. Crashing constantly.

I then looked into what my computer was doing at the time the game loaded and I noticed that Windows defender would ramp up activity immediately. Soon as I closed Warzone, Windows Defender would subside.

So as a test, I added 2 exclusions to Windows security. 1st was for the main cod folder and the 2nd was for the Modernware.exe.

My game now runs so much smoother and I haven't had a crash yet.

Maybe this can resolve some issues for certain people.

So I've resorted to full re-install of the game after the latest patch as every single time I logged in I was getting the awful 'updating multiplayer shader cache' bug...
Clicked install and didn't actually realize that this games needs 202gb! and also the servers are awfuly slow still, only getting around 6mb/s. Tested a Steam install and got my full 46mb/s quite happily.

I'm fine with crashes on AMD but have the odd sound issue since the update which is annoying, only happens occasionally.

First is sound is normal in the pre-game lobby but when it switches to the plane the sound goes terrible like it's set to Mono, will be fine in the next game.

Secondly we had chat drop out for all three of us mid-game twice last night, never happened before. Really spoils it not being able to chat in a trio!

My XP didn't update for 3 games so gave up. Same old problems recurring each time. Pathetic.

Yes had this too, played a game of Plunder to get some easy weapon XP and ended up winning and nothing ranked up.

Full install with patches is 181GB. Blizzard servers will be getting battered. Imagine the upload needed for 100million odd people, a lot of whom are stuck inside all trying to update and play at once

I'm able to play but it seems to be about a 10 minute wait between rounds. Not bad as I suppose I am supposed to be working from home :p

Glad I've never got to touch the riot shield again. Got the shield and knife platinum this morning so now just need to work on the launchers and then the 'no life' camo is mine!

I'm too having in game voice chat issues. In lobby it's fine.. Then when you land, few mins later voice chat goes missing. Luckily I play with a group of folks that we can WhatsApp voice chat. Done that on few occasions. Not ideal..

So it was a driver issue?

I'll report back when I get another crash. I can't understand why people say the game is broken and crashes when it works for the majority of people. It's just the game doesnt play nice with certain drivers/settings/programs or whatever else.
It's really not hard to troubleshoot and fix your own problems. Not directed at you Sho, just anyone saying 'the game's rubbish because it crashes' ...sort it out then!

Mate, it is hard though. It's a complete nightmare. Me and my 2 friends have had loads of trouble. We've followed massive guides on Reddit called "Modern Warfare ultimate fix guide" etc etc

I've probably spent maybe 30+ hours, reading, researching, applying fixes, tweaking settings, tweaking windows, reinstalling the game etc.

And it's weird because why did Warzone + multiplayer just work fine for best part of two weeks? And then suddenly start crashing + freezing and I've never experienced freezing or had dev errors like others and I've had this game since release. I bought the full game at release.

So when you say it's not hard...that's not accurate. The game engine seems really buggy, really old, not well made, very temperamental. It's a really rubbish engine. I really hope the next game they decide to go with a completely new engine.

I score this game 10/10 I score the engine 0/10.

I've tried everything.

Guys apparently a new fix for some people is to disable in-game voice chat. This helps with stuttering, freezing, fps performance issues. Just disable it for now, it's completely broken.

This fix helps me a lot with "crash to desktop with no error" problem:

  1. Press Windows+R and type %programdata%
  2. In the window that appears delete "Battle.net" folder and also delete"Blizzard Entertainment".
  3. Make sure battlenet isn't running in task manager when you do this otherwise it won't let you delete the folders.
  4. Launch battlenet and it will say install - DON'T click that, instead click locate game, just the game folder and press select.
  5. Then it will update which takes 2 seconds and says ready to play.
  6. Then load the game up, go graphics options and restart shaders.
  7. When it's done your ready to play.

I have to do this once a week and sometimes it seems to stop crash to desktop.

Other fixes I've tried:

Don't have a 2nd monitor installed.
Disable Vysnc in Nvidia control panel.
Also in nvidia control panel set "Texture filtering Anisotropic Sample Optimised" to ON and turn "Shader Cache" ON.
Then in your antivirus in windows add the game folder and exe as Exclusons in your antivirus.

This might help some people.

I've resorted to doing a fresh install of Windows and games. He didn't even install his GPU with the right driver so will work away at that the next day and see if it makes any difference.

Nice 1, I'm going to give this a shot now. Just set those exclusions to my game too in windows defender. :)
