How's the cheating situation atm? I've not played for a while.

Well I re-installed yesterday for the first time in 2022 and haven't had an obvious problem with cheating yet.
The biggest issue I've got is the time its taking to find a game in BR and Rebirth Solo's.....its taking an age. Has the player count dropped that far now that matchmaking isnt working?

Solo queues outside of peak times are pretty bad I would say and still plenty of cheaters around though not as many as pre richochet imo.

Honestly for me i have not seen a obvious hacker for months. I am sure they are still out there but I reckon I have seen 2 or 3 this year and I play quite regularly.
Compared to the dark time last year it was daily or even multiple times when I would play for a session.

Yeah, feel similarly right now re: cheater situation. I've not been killed by or seen an 'obvious' hacker for a while now and anything sort of suspicious can be put down to good audio positioning, someone just being really good at the game or just pot luck.
The amount of time's people will call 'cheating' though is ridiculous. We play with a friend who's on an original Xbox One so his game looks like a water colour painting and it runs at about 12fps and even he gets accused of cheating.
Saying that, I do tend to swap between playing on PC to PS5 w/ crossplay off if we're getting particularly intense lobbies.
I like this latest change they've made to the marksman rifles / sniper rifles - much more enjoyable now to use the HDR.

I started playing warzone during first or second lockdown. My friends have largely moved on but i still enjoy playing and do play from time to time.
Ive noticed modern warfare is 50% off on battle net, making it £25. Is this worth buying? Id play the single player campaign, but is there still multiplayer stuff going on? Or is it just warzone and vanguard now?
A single player game and some extra multiplayer game modes other than warzone would be good.

I think it's worth 25 quid even if you play the camp and use multiplayer to level up weapons

Obvious hacker from last night in Solos, couldn't fnd them in the recent lobby list afterwards to add them to block list which was kinda annoying. Checked the stats this morning:
Less hackers though since Caldera came out and also not noticed many in Rebirth tbh

Is the multiplayer still pretty active? Ive never really played COD, in decades at least, so all the different versions is a bit confusing.
That depends. What GPU do you have and what multiplayer modes will you play? Is it just for leveling up guns for warzone for example?

If you are still into warzone just use the multiplayer to unlock more weapons to try out. Shoot the ship 24/7 is the best mode for this
