Call of Duty Modern Warfare

I mostly like the look of the game but I think the removal of the mini map is a mistake and the fact that you only earn killstreaks from actual kills is crap, especially as I mainly play domination. You should be rewarded for actually playing the objective.

Agreed about the kill streaks, I pretty much only play domination. I'm happy about the mini map though, I think, as I used to play hardcore for the sole reason of not having one, problem is it can induce camping...

^^^ Gonna be very little PTFO in pubs because of killstreak mechanic.

Id be happy to see killstreaks removed from all modes except FFA.

I like the look of the 2v2. I will wait and see what the servers are like. I hope they arent the usual dog **** quality, but im not gonna hold my breath.

Id like to see a higher fov in game too.

I'm looking forward to this but I too am concerned about the lack of a mini map. It's basically going to make the UAV a vital streak choice, so everyone will be running it, plus if teams are badly balanced then you'll end up facing an enemy team who has permanent UAV and it will make things even more one-sided. Also, after watching the multiplayer reveal event and hearing what the various streamers have to say about the game, a lot of them said that the lack of a UAV ruined the flow of the game. Reading the map is a skill, it's not a simple case of red dot chasing. Yes, some people do that, but better players know how to read the map to understand flanking routes, enemy spawn locations, and where your teammates are.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's fan outcry during the beta and it leads to IW adding the UAV back in in time for the full launch.

The more i see of this game, the more excited i'm getting. I personally think its a good move to remove the Mini map, adds a bit more realism, caution and tension to the game, and from the footage i've seen it definitely doesn't need a Mini map.

I'm also looking forward to campaign mode, absolutely loved some of the MW levels, obviously All Ghillied Up is up there as one of the best. Speaks volumes as to how great most of the SAS levels were that they're what I really remember. Price in the CoD series is arguably one of gaming's best ever recurring characters, I want a whole new game of Price and Macmillan special ops set in the 80s and 90s.

Indeed let's hope, and Spec Ops is back!

I'm interested to see how they are going to merge the SP gun progression with MP progression. I think this is a first for such a game.

I don't see the point of removing it from core. Isn't hardcore all about the realistic experience?

I think the map thing is so people play a bit more tactically and don't just end up chasing red dots around the map.

I remember seeing a vid on YouTube saying there's a revamped realism mode where its 1 bullet kills to the head and 2 to the rest of the body.

I actually think it's a mistake, because it raises that bar of entry and makes it more challenging for casuals to get into the game. COD is not meant to be a serious, competitive shooter and it never has been. It's supposed to be arcadey with a low bar of entry and fun to dip in and out of, that's always been it's selling point and I think it's a mistake to change it's style this late in the series.

Late in the series? It will still be going in 50 years.

Watched some YT video on this yesterday, and they mentioned that the MP side of things, might be heading towards more of a Battlefield feel - that's great news imo; but I still think they should have an 'original' mode for CoD - as it's always been a bit of fast paced arcade-y fun, that didn't take itself too seriously - great to just drop in and play.
