Can a vegan diet make me strong. Let's find out.

True, the guy who called us out is on the juice and arrogant anyways, he shouted to us (at the other end of the gym) to at least put some weight on the bar if we are uploading it to youtube.

We don't have smart phones so had to use a digital camera with video record function, it's still only small but damn they all saw it alright.

As long as you clear it with the gym staff (assuming you can't do it without getting busted) it shouldn't be a problem. :)

I wasn't even lying, 300g of chicken, 3rd a pot of cottage cheese, and a nice juicy steak.

I gotta get myself some vit D!

It's about the only vitamin you'll be getting :p

icecold - That's what I meant as well by manipulation.

Speculative? If we all understand that animals use their eyes to see, ears to hear, mouths to eat, noses to smell, legs to walk, feathers to fly, fins to swim, genitalia to procreate, bowels to defecate. Are you telling me that they can't also use their brains to think, feel, be rational, be aware and be self-aware?

No murder is murder. The only reason it's exclusive to humans is because we believe that our species is so more special, so more superior than others, that we're the only ones that count, and we're the only ones that matter. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but that line of thinking, that thought process, that is the basis of all forms of discrimination. One group saying and thinking that they are more special than everyone else, and they proceed to exploit them, oppress them, denying them their right to be free.

As for the squirrel, but circumstances don't demand it. I can have hot dogs without causing harm to another being, or just eat things that are truly natural, like fruits and vegetables or beans and lentils.

The I'd love to see people eat raw flesh from the bone, down to the bone with nothing left but the bones, day after day after day. I'm sure they would start turning to other sources of nutrition.

Animals have done nothing to harm us. You don't get to have freedom when somebody else doesn't. Stop discriminating against another species.
Do you really find it that hard to keep track of your own arguments?

Also, the level of cognition present in animals IS speculative. It's an area that is undergoing study. Talking about it the way you do further undermines your general understanding.

*sigh* No, murder only applies to humans. As in, that is literally how the word is defined. Feel free to make up a new word, but you can't just change an existing word's meaning to further your argument.

The squirrel thing... wat. Yes, the circumstances do not require that I hunt and kill my own food, obviously  I don't have to, so I don't.

Also, if I were to kill and prepare my own delicious meets, of course I'd still be cooking them. What kind of weak, weird ass point is that?

DISCRIMINATING against other species?!!? I just... wow. How accommodating are you of all bacteria, moulds, insects, etc. are you? But what about their feelings :(

The way you think is rather alarming.

You can't deny animals have feelings, a mother of a calf doesn't scream for three days when it's babie gets taken away from her for nothing.

No, it's murder. We murder billions of animals every year. The animals have done nothing wrong and are killed. They murder them with premeditation, and without penalty. We shouldn't even have separate words for that between species.

I know you would still cook your own meat but I was trying to make a point of a carnivore.

We got a founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Bacteria in here now. This is the only thing that bothers me when this is brought up. Is that you want to equate cows in the same level as parasites and bacteria.

Okay fine, but do bacteria harm you most of the time? When they do, they’re harmful and you have the right to defend yourself and kill something that’s harming you.

If you absolutely refuse to accept some fundamental truths, how can you expect anyone to listen to you at all? You just sound like a raving fool.

If it's ok to discriminate against certain species, where is the line? Is it ok to eat insects?

I kill bacteria and insects even when they aren't harming me. I've even enslaved millions of bacteria to do my bidding, in my gut.

I'm not going to reply to any comments about eating animals. I'll leave it at that to prevent any troll accusations. I'll let the progress speak for itself. Cheers.
STFU then!

You're embarrassing yourself greatly. You have a moral objection to eating meat, that's fine, live your life however you wish, just stop trying to tell others how to live theirs. We live in a world where meat eating is an everyday part of life, I suggest you deal with it, because even if you can't, that's not changing.

I accept murder is only equated to humans, by society. At one point in time slavery was made okay by society too.

It's not okay to discriminate about certain species, I believe in the opposite. Discrimination is one group saying and thinking that they're more special than everyone else, and they proceed to exploit them, oppress them, denying them their right to be free. That's where the line is drawn.

Besides I don’t want people to be concerned about bacteria and insects attacking them before thinking about mass animal abuse.

Another thing that I'm curious about. People questioning animal intelligence. Well what about babies, they are stupid and helpless too, but only a complete psycho would agree that babies should be enslaved, murdered, or set on fire.

wedgie - I'm not forcing you into this thread, if you don't want to discuss anything or feel like I'm embarrassing myself than you don't have to. People are asking questions, I'm answering them. That's all, not telling anyone to stop eating meat just defending my view on it regarding questions asked. And I don't mind people asking questions or posting photos of steaks, I'm glad people are interested in the topic, even if it's against it.

Yes eating meat is everyday part of life, the worlds oldest and strongest addiction. I'm not trying to take you away from your choice.

I believe animal abuse will be abolished one day, not meat eating altogether, but mass production of meat. We just need great men. Just like William Wilberforce helped abolish slavery. On a side note I love that he was born in the same city as me.

Taste

Yep meat tastes great. I love the way it tastes, love it. Cheese, LOVE it!, cow's milk love it. Guilty as charged. I gave up the taste for ethics and compassion to the animals that I share this planet with. I stopped buying the stuff when I realized I'm supporting something I think is wrong. But the cool thing about being vegan is it's never been easier so I don't mind too much.

I'm not trying to reflect any of your own ethics or compassion there by the way Tummy. I'm just saying how I felt. If you like the taste more or just don't feel that way then that's cool too. It's just sometimes meat eaters argue so forcefully because they think to lose the argument is to lack compassion and acknowledge the wrongness in creating suffering of others. People like Michael Pollan (an unpaid spokesman for the meat and dairy industries) make a joke of the vegan lifestyle, most of the time not because they think it's silly, but because it has to be silly for them to be a good person.

Obviously this is not true, I do think they made the wrong decision (not to would go against everything I stand for) but I respect their decision like they have mine. I'm more against the industrialization of it than the act of eating meat because people like the taste of it.

I'm not going to preach to people that they should or shouldn't eat meat yo! All about the free choice.

Before and after pictures please! Always awesome in these type of threads and you should take a self portrait picture every month or so, you'll see differences with each passing month!

Im not sure why anyone here cares. Vegans who succeed in body transformations arent stupid. By that i mean transformations into something good, not transformations into dead.

So nate wont get anywhere will he? Why have we hit 3 pages already whats wrong with you all?

Tummy -:) That's cool, I really hate preaching but my intention is just to raise more awareness.

Yeah I'll try and add some pictures and videos asap, I warn you now it's going to be a slow progress packing on muscle onto my lanky ass frame so you might wanna check back in a few months if you're interested to see any kind of results, although the weight should be going up okay.

Ultra_Extreme - I think people will more interested to see if I can get stronger, if I can or can't. Some flat out believe it's not doable and some think it's very very hard. But if I can do it anyone can. I need a very high calorie intake for my weight and height, currently around 4000 a day with 192-255 grams of protein. Plus seeing it for yourself is more impressive than sending dozens of links of others who already got there. Same as those around me, people in my gym know I'm vegan and they told me to quit and go play basketball. I'm not giving up.

listen, if you do you have my respect, ill set you this task, 12 months i want to see double bodyweight dead and squat and a bodyweight bench. No one here will argue this is fully realistic, and i would say on any diet too, protein allowing.

I have trained enough people to this standard, but those people dont have your traits. I dont think you have what it takes, i dont think many vegans do, scratch that i dont even think many people do. So i await the videos and my serving of humble pie. But i wont wash the cutlery just yet. Lets wait and see.

No one here has said they believe it is "flat out not doable"... I don't think anyone would argue that you will fail to increase strength, just that your targets and way of thinking is so utterly barmy.

Ultra_Extreme - Bring it on. Okay that's 174kg squat and dead and 192lb bench. As it stands, that's going to go up as I think I'll be at 200lb pretty soon. Body weight bench seems pretty realistic to me that's 90-100kg I'm at 70kg now, I think I can do it.

Zefan - True not here, but elsewhere. My targets aren't that crazy, I think UEs are going to be a good challenge and I purposely set my goals past world records. Reason being I want to dream big not average.

I know they trained for years since a young age or are naturally strong. I'll put a note saying they are not my realistic goals.
