Can you remember where you were when you joined OcUK?

It was late in 1999 and I was in my spare room (that subsequently became my computer room, 7 of them) and I was researching SETI@Home as my mate was trying to persuade me to start up and OcUK had just started a team - I was ridcully back then before the nukages

In the back room ordering PC parts. Things don't appear to have changed much except its a different back room in a different place.

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.
But even then, I knew I'd find a much better place either with or without you.

Definitely without I think.

2003 at home. I wanted info on a Thermaltake case and was wisely advised to avoid.

Had something like that once. Oh dear.

I had recently moved down to Staffordshire area for work, from Warrington. My previous supplier was Micro Direct now deceased. My purchasing with OCUK, started before using this forum. Mainly athlon processors and abit motherboards upgrading work computers for gaming. Bought my first eight core (thuban?) from here around 2008. Always been a bit of an AMD fan boy since the early '90's.

I was so addicted to that in the early noughties! What was your toon called?

I think I was about 18, in my room at my parents. I'd just got my student loan and I was looking for some advice on Athlon 1000's for my new build - good times! The forum was white and purple back then I think?

I think my main character was x_sabre_x (how very 2004!) But I was forever creating new characters because it was so easy to ruin a build on Soma if you didn't do con at the right time or if you did too many int levels.

I then spent most of my time sharing a character with my mate, I think that was called _Adio_.

For all my sins, I was still playing the private server up until last year.

I wish I'd been given this advice :(

Christ inhad some good awful cases. Apart from the Antec Lanboy.

I signed up in 2003 after months of lurking. Inwas in my childhood bedroom, on my self built PC and was researching my next GPU upgrade. Think it was between the ati 9800se that I ended up getting or the non-pro and flashing it. That's right, I signed up to OcUK to read about flashing and chickened out.

Edit: ha, to be fair to myself, I went back to look at my first post and it was a month after sign up as I was pushing CPU and ram to their limits :D OcUK forums were my education over the years. I got told off by Chong Warrior for not reading his guide like the utter n00b I was.
I ended up with a Coolermaster 201 that I bought off Members Market :D

I actually had started an account before 2003 and before the big nuke but couldn't remember my login codes.

I had taken up skydiving as a hobby during university, and I after I left uni I kept the hobby up and thought I'd choose a name that was relevant.
