Canadian Grand Prix 2011, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve - Race 7/19

Wow...

No further penalties from the Stewards for any incidents.

Nice to see the FIA consistancy continuing. Making it look more like Lewis having a point.

I think all talk of DRS should be put on hold until after Silverstone as the double diffusers are being removed there. See what that effect will have on straight line speed, the ability to defend and things.

Why would it rarely happen? Because the car behind is faster anyway? Doesn't that make DRS simply a catalyst to the inevitable rather than an unfair advantage?

Exactly, if the driver is able to make a comeback, next lap he has DRS.

Yeah, DRS has made overtaking a push button manoeuvre

It has at some races and at the other races it's useless and we still have overtaking.

You just have to look at today for how many overtakes were DRS and a clear pass. More than people realise when you look back in the midfield.

Doesn't that break the fundamental that the car in front becomes the car behind the next lap? Then they can just repay the favour?

I know you aren't a fan of it, but I don't think we have enough evidence or experience using it to denounce it after every race as the Beelzebub of racing and falsifier of results. If we had topsy turvy results then I would say there is a proper error in its implementation, but the fast cars still win and the slow cars still lose, it just provides extra opportunities across the field.

Good points I agree with, I think DRS needs it's own thread :D

I can't remember a topic I've ever been so split on with F1. I like reading all the comments, they keep changing my mind one way or another :D

In one respect I agree with Acid, the speed difference sometimes is absurd, then again you are right slower cars are not getting past and staying there.

I suppose the bottom line is did I enjoy the race and I did, but is that because Button won. Had Button been leading and Vettel recovered like that with DRS would I have been so happy.

Probably not :D

I will go back to being 50/50 and reading the interesting debate. Maybe they threw in to many things at once. I'd like to see how the races went with just these new tyres and the diffuser banned.

Just for accuracy, you mean EBD removed? DD have gone already.

I'm off to bed now anyway, I'll leave Acid alone. I don't mind his opinion on it, I just like to debate the severity of the device. I think it's quite an interesting area where you've got all sorts of fans who love F1 with various thoughts.

Personally I think they should remove DRS and bring back varying fuel loads.

Could not believe how easy it was for Schui to be over taken by Webber and Jenson.
