Can someone explain if McLaren are actually going to benefit from rain

It's certainly not going to make them any worse off! Less of a chance for the Red Bulls/Ferraris to make an early getaway.

i think they wil just be less worse off than the others in front of them.

Unlikely, and even if it is, it'll be more pure blind luck, than superior tactics.. I think their supercomputers play pin the tail on the strategy most of the time.

Be dry by the race, vettle to lead from the start, a load of overtaking for the race, only for everyone to finish in their original position

Usually takes up to an hour after broadcast. Part 1 (pre race) is normally up before the race finishes.
