Canadian Grand Prix 2012, Montréal - Race 7/20

If Hamilton accidentally pits at the RBR pit and the RBR crew somehow fail to notice and let Hamilton have a proper pitstop then he can win, otherwise.... chances are slim.

Hamilton has been fast enough in probably half the races to win or get in the top 2-3, same will almost certainly be true this weekend, the question this season isn't really if Mclaren will screw up, its how much time will it cost Hamilton, and will he have the advantage to still come out ahead. Answer is, who knows.

Maybe this week it will be Button trying to finish ahead of Hamilton, he'll hit off Hamilton as he's about to get lapped, just as it starts to rain, get stupid lucky with his pitstop and win ahead of loads of people on the wrong tyre ? :p

McLaren usually have a decent/fast race car, though. As do RBR (RBR tend to be weaker in qualifying).

I'm eyeing up the Ferrari, though.
Looking at Massa's times: he was consistently quick in the practise sessions at Monaco and once again, he is consistently fast in Canada. I think Ferrari, now have a genuinely fast car.

Bearing this in mind, I fancy Hamilton for pole and Alonso or Vettel for the race win.

The Red Bull's seem better suited at tracks with high track temps, can't see them on the podium this weekend tbh.

So you are saying that out of the entire field, Hamilton is the only one who is trying out a qualifying setup, while the rest of the field is working on race setup?

I don't buy that for even 1 second.

I didn't see any of the practice yesterday.

Why did it take so long for McLaren to fix JB oil leak/gearbox?

What happened between Vettel & Senna?

Ferrari quotes from friday practice:

Fernando Alonso, P1 - 1:15.842, 4th; P2 - 1:15.313, 2nd
“I am rather pleased with the way things went this Montreal Friday."

Felipe Massa, P1 - 1:16.619, 12th; P2 - 1:15.410, 3rd
"To sum up, this has been the best Friday of 2012: let’s hope that can continue through Saturday and Sunday as well!”

Pat Fry, Ferrari chassis director
"We brought two different exhaust configurations here: one was the one used in the last two races, the other represents our latest interpretation of the concept that was part of the car when it made its debut in Jerez. From what we could see today, the latter configuration seems to be positive in terms of performance even if, obviously, we need to analyse the data very carefully to make the right choices for the race."

Sounds promising. Ferrari were supposed to have poor traction and a real lack of top speed at the start of the season if I remember correctly? If they're strong here then it would indicate they have really got on top of the car. :)
