Canadian Grand Prix 2013, Montréal - Race 7/19

Yep. Can't understand why they decided to scrap what was the fastest car last season.

I cant either. It truly is baffling. Its not like theyd hit a complete brick wall development wisecwith it and theyd have come out gunning for wins from the start.

That's the end of lotus challenge (wasn't really one there at all tbh)

If this is how they go in cooler races then season over. Mercedes, red bull, ferrari are all faster and kimi will be off at seasons end.

It's frustrating as I don't see them being any better than they are now, just don't have the budget to compete with big teams

RG managed an appalling number of laps on his SSofts

I think both Alonso and Hamilton were a bit surprised about the Red Bull pace here. Is it a one off or have they pulled away in development already?

Well, this is the sequence of Vettel's last 4 race results:

1 CANADA (today)
2 MONACO
3 BARCELONA
1 BAHRAIN

I actually think that RBR have produced a great car. Obviously we expect a little bit of ebb and flow as the season progresses, but RBR do have arguably the best car this year. Merc probably have the fastest car (over a single lap).

From the start of the season I have predicted that Vettel will win the title this year and I see no reason to change that prediction.

RBR, from top to bottom (the last 4 words are very important), are a great team. Only another great team will be able to beat them.

I think that the most likely driver who is likely to beat Vettel in 2014, is Hamilton. Merc are now the big spenders are pulling out all the stops for 2014. They are determined to win.

McLaren, unless they hire Vettel, Kimi or Alonso, are likely to struggle for the next few years. Unfortunately, for them, they seem to have completely lost the will to win. If they are clever, they will muscle in on RBR and hire either Kimi or Vettel for 2014 - but sadly, I think they are more interested in playing happy families and not stepping on anybody's toes. Jenson Button - reliable, not offensive, likeable, easy to get along with, never says the wrong thing, never offends anyone, gracious in defeat - this sums up McLaren to a tee.

Lee Mckenzie should be hosting this show.

I'd have to agree with this. Suzie just seems to stutter in what she is saying a lot and seems to be fed questions through her ear piece and not even listen to the person she is talking to. Coulthard and the other guy are a bit too dull.

Can't say Sky is much better though. Brundle loves over dramatising everything. The pre show etc seems a bit boring as well. I think Jake was the perfect presenter for Formula 1.

EJ just makes me cringe a lot now. I don't know what is wrong with all these people shouting his name after the race.

Mclaren are terrible. I really questioned Hamiltons move when it was announced, looks like a great move now.

Mclaren are losing there way. Button is not a team leader imo. He needs to precise a car to give the feedback the team require and Perez is to green, he is another Kovalinen choice by Mclaren

Has to be the most boring Canadian GP for a long time, bad times :(

I frigging hate Sootil. The guy has problems with Hamilton that extend a grudge and border on pathetic. He ruined his own race to 1-up Hamilton and in the grand scheme of things it hurt himself more than Lewis and made himself look like a dick.

Does this mean Red Bull now love the tyres? :p

If this is how they [Lotus] go in cooler races then season over. Mercedes, red bull, ferrari are all faster and kimi will be off at seasons end.

I dont think that Lotus ever expected to win the title this year - though they have & will give it a damn good try.

I think Kimi may still finish in the top 3 this year, which for Lotus, would be a great achievement. Kimi's strength last year, was not outright speed, it was consistency, so don't get too disheartened - Kimi will keep scoring regular points. He is arguably the most consistent driver in F1 and has a good chance of finishing in 3rd place.

And will Kimi stay at Renault...I mean Lotus...it is not a forgone conclusion that he will goto RBR. Remember, as a (future) 4 time WDC (Vettel), Vettel may veto Kimi's move to RBR and just as in 2 years ago, when Hamilton asked Horner if he could drive for them and Horner declined - the same fate may be shared by Kimi. Remember, by the year end, RBR will have won the WDC and WCC, for 4 years on the trot - why would they jeopardise this fragile team balance by bringing in a super competitive driver who will take away points from Vettel and perhaps cause unrest within the team?
