Canadian Grand Prix 2015, Montréal - Race 7/19

Shame the drs is what provided most of the action.
Better than nothing, but sorry state of affairs

Rg.. Last race having a go, this week taking a blow.. That was poor
Maldanado actually finished
How much more before Alonso pops?
Kind of impressed by how button is dealing with it on TV

No surprise that Honda/Renault can't recover
I think the restriction is ott of you really are shafted for years
I like the engine tech. Not the rules

Is a Shame f1 is so expensive but most boring formula of the weekend TV

Money is inversely proportional to entertainment!

Oh god that 3 years stat again

Compared to the weak ass excuse LH wss having gf problems when he was absolutely slaughtered by JB you mean?
:)

Ive really gone off F1, not just because Mclaren are so **** currently - but there is no real competition. ferrari can compete on the odd track ( like RBR last season) and Williams is 3rd at best . Guessing the results before the weekend even starts you are likely to get 70% of the points positions correct if not more, even when Ferrari or whoever start the race down the grid. Hopefully they save it for the '17 season but next year is likely to be similar. Less of horner's sore whinging would be an improvement for that season

Sense? Talking rubbish like normal.
He should know mire than most people that f1 is not a sprint, never has been and never will be. As data and computers have got better. They will do what ever is the quickest race time. Unless they're out of position, and quickest race time is simply not flat out. The weight of the fuel, So slower corner speeds, longer braking and slow acceleration. Doesn't make up the time of using more fuel.

Horner takes a break from threatening to quit and speaks some sense.

Are those the same tyres he bitterly complained about when they were forcing 2-3 stops a race that he's now asking for?

He's just taking advantage of the fact that Montreal has always been a fuel critical race, with teams putting in the minimum fuel weight to race the fastest. New rules that allow more fuel in the car won't change the fact that the teams will put in less fuel for a lighter car. This is just an opportunity to complain about it at at track that has always been a fuel/tyre saving race to make his whining look more credible.

Horner should stop complaining until he's actually built a car that any of this stuff matters to. Right now he's just bitching because he wants to shake up the rules back to something Red Bull might be able to win. When Red Bull was winning races Horner was saying "the rules are the same for everyone", but now the shoe is on the other foot, he doesn't like it.

He should let his drivers and engineers do the talking on the track, just like Mercedes and Ferrari, and stop being such a poor loser.

Absolute bs that excuse was in 2011... Poor little Hammy having relationship troubles, diddums.

Does a fighter pilot go to work and have a "bad" day and crash his aircraft because he's letting his personal life affect his work life? No. You shut the front door and leave those problems at home. Work is work. Especially when you're being paid £675,000 a week for it, Hamilton having a melt down because of shirtswinger is the lamest thing I've ever heard. More like he was having a melt down because he found out Button wasn't the walk over Hamilton thought he was going to be.

Yes they purposely run less fuel as it's quicker than carrying surplus and going flat out.

But the main problem I think is teams instructing the drivers to do so. Drivers should be left to get on with that themselves imo. Teams may then put in some extra margin.

Afaik there may be something on the dashboard but the teams usually monitor it via the fuel pump or some other part of the fuel system. Knowing how much they put in and how much they've used is easy then.

Theres a simple solution, don't broadcast the radio messages.

People are only complaining about "saving stuff" now they know its happening. If you don't let them know its going on then problem solved.

Probably sounds a bit sad but I series linked all the classic F1 races on the Sky F1 channel and watch them when there's nothing on TV and I confirm that saving various things was happening back in the 80's, 90's and 00's too! Murray mentioned it a fair few times regarding tires. (Not so much fuel when they had refuelling..) We just seem to go on a lot about it now because of the enhanced access to the radio chatter.

Yeah, the fuel saving was more extreme back in the 80s, to the point where Nigel Roebuck said that it was a good thing that Gilles died when he did rather than have to suffer through the fuel economy years.

As you've said, F1 has always been about protecting something or other, be it the car or its ancillary parts. The issue now is that it's so transparent.
