Sure when we were all 16 we used to sneak into pubs and stuff but I never thought I'd have to start doing it again now I'm 20 lol, seems all the pubs round here have decided to enforce an over 21 policy so I now have to sneak in through the fire exits lol. Anyone else found this in their areas, its only really started happening in the last couple of weeks or so around here.

Some sort of new Government poicly isn't it. Round my end there are loads of posters up in pubs etc saying if you look under 21 they will ask you for ID but you only have to be 18 to drink there still.

I've not seen anything like that, although I doubt I'd notice it as it wouldn't affect me. All of my local supermarkets, however, have "Think 21" signs up saying that they will ask for identification from anyone who looks under 21.

Yeah ive found this, especially since my local weatherspoons back home has stopped accepting provisional licences as ID. I dont drive, and im not gonna bring out passport in case i lose it while drunk (likely), so that really cuts down on the number of places i can go.

What, how come? anyone else heard of this?

Went to my first over 21 pub when I was 16 - same with normal pubs and clubs :)

The wonders of being female... oh yeah, and of wearing low cut tops ;)

i got ID in sainsbury's when buying a bottle of wine not long ago, I was 26 ! I dunno whether to kiss her or be offended ! :p

I would've punched her in the ovary.

:p

Over 21 bars are annoying, I don't see a major difference in maturity between 21 year olds and 18 most of the time. Usually the price in your average 21+ would keep people away.

i know a few pub/clubs that operate a no under 21's policy. places like chicago etc. round my area...

wetherspoons just hate me because i have no ID at all except my uni ID, because i only usually go into my local who all know me in there! lol.

i went in for breakfast with a load of my uni mates, they all had ID except for me, all i asked for is a glass of coke and a breakfast, and the guy who looked younger than me kicked me out :(

I've had too many arguments with bar staff when I've asked for a coke and they've asked me for ID, I'm like 'it's a coke mate', then they say 'pub is over 18', to which my reply is 'how come you have a family area then', I don't need to argue because I could easily get my driving licence out but its far less hassle to argue with them :p

Think most places round here are over 21 now though because of the amount of Chavs and it'll probably help underage drinking too but then they could just ID people like they're meant to.

Yeah that makes sense  . "Sorry you're not allowed to drink here unless you can drive yourself home at closing time".

It's probably just the bouncers being idiots. Provisional licenses are just as valid as full licenses when it comes to ID, and I doubt there's a link between people who can't drive and trouble makers. Why would pub owners want to turn down customers for no reason whatsoever?

Never really have any bother, im built like a brick **** house with a bit of a gut, so dont get stopped a lot. However, being in Newcastle we have plenty choice anyways ;)
