Can't believe I have to sneak into pubs again

In a way I think this can be a positive thing, in that if staff are being instructed to ask for ID proving you are over 18 if they believe you look under the age of 21... but a lot of staff seem to be mis-informed and belive it to be LAW that you must be over 21.

I'm 27, my girlfriend is 22. We were buying some booze in Morissons. She got a bottle of wine and I had a load of beer & spirits.

The woman on the checkout refused to sell my lass the wine, fair enough she couldn't prove she's over 21 but it's obvious she's over 18, she was dressed in work clothes and still wearing her ID badge (disregarding the fact that the same person had happily sold her alcohol for the last 2 years).
I then said that I'd get it... The checkout troll refused to let me purchase the wine but still allowed me to buy enough booze to get a small army drunk... After asking me for I.D, then turning very red when she looked at my D.O.B

What if my missus had gone in with her parents ?? would they refuse to sell them a bottle of wine for their daughter who is over 18 ?

Na that's not the case here, the bouncers say it's over 21 and there is a big sign on the door of the pubs saying new policy is over 21 only, really winds me up

I think the under 21 rule bassically means "no students"

The fact that i'm 19 but look like 16 doesn't help. I got ID'ed for a 15 movie the other day when I was surrounded by all my uni mates. Went and complained to the manager for the embaressment it caused me, got my money back and a free popcorn.

Some lady bouncer laughed at me the other day because she thought I was trying to sneek into "her" club. The laughs she got from the surrounding crowd as I whipped my driving licence out was priceless

I got served for the original grand theft auto when it was first released (can't remember how old I was) and my mum took it back and complained :D

Yeah some clubs here have over-21 nights which I'm sure is just so the locals can have a good night out without being surrounded by students. Fair enough I think because there's plenty of other places for students to go on those nights.

I'm not a ******* student though lol
Well unfortunately it's hard to enforce a no student rule. It's either over-21 or hike up the prices so students cant afford it. Although they probably do both.

Can't remember ever being ID'd. Had a beard since I was 14 though. :/

Over 21 places are slightly better than 18+. Reduces the chances of an incident with a lady anyway. Some places I've been to I wouldn't take a lady home before I ID'd her for Christ sake.

Kell_ee001 going to 21+ places at 16 being a prime example. :p

Even at 16 you wouldn't have had the chance to :p I'm not that kind of girl!

However, I'm sure there are some lasses you wished you'd ID before taking home ;)

My mate did that in an off licence once, I still remember it clearly, his exact words were 'here's my ID' :p priceless

Hahaha nice! :D

I also have the unfortunate memories of mates who just cant keep their clothes on when out and about... I would post pics but this is a family forum :p
