Can't believe I have to sneak into pubs again

I hope these 21 pubs don't proliferate.

Having just got my ID, I have no desire to return to the dark, dark days of yore spent sneaking into nightclubs and having friends buy my drinks.

I'v never been asked my age, I did go to a few pubs when I was 17 but aparently I looked like 23-25 at the time. That's what a few hot girls at my halls said anyway (all 25ish) and I made the mistake of telling them that I was actually 17. No nookie for me :p

Anyway, get some ID with you.

surely this is a moot point, because after you're in the nightclub the bar never asks for ID, becuase they're legally covered due to door staff asking for ID!

You'd think so, but I've been in clubs when they've ID'd twice. Usually when there were a fair few underage people out and they were being extra-careful.

It mainly applied to pubs though.

i think the only time ive been asked for ID is when my mates and i went to our local pub but my mates cousin come along who may or may not have been 18......................... but very close.. and was asked for ID because he looks 10, and said "ive got a tattoo does that count" thus we where mostly ID'd but i didnt have any on me but got serverd anyway :S strange really when i think back to it.

A few of the pubs round my way have introducded this over 21's thing but they where the very dodgy ones, i suppose there trying to get a better image.

yay for Bars on campus though!

Any one ever been asked for ID when buying a game?

I was asked the other day when buying quake 4 and was quite shocked considering I'm 21.

If it hadn't been on offer for 12.99 I would have told him to stuff it!

i havent but i was with my friend adam who bought the "half life generations" pack and got ID'd, i laughed so much everybody in the shop turned around and were looking at me. i had to leave the shop!

he had just turned 19 and had a huuuuge beard on him!

the guy behind the till went "sorry about that mate, its school holidays see"

I remember the first time I took a customer to a bar in Canary Wharf - they very reluctantly served me one round of drinks as I was under 21 and they have an 'over 21s' policy. How embarassing was that?!

My mam got stopped in the town last year and asked for ID, shes 46 FFS. The bloke must have either been blind or it must have been pitch black.

This winds me up

I am over 21, and get asked for ID on an average of 30% on night outs..
I don't have a baby face, but my main gripe is the sheer incovienience (and sometimes humiliation) of getting my wallet out that gets my back up!!

If they want to ask people who look under 21 for ID, shouldn't they just raise the legal drinking age!?

It's kind of funny reading these comments. In my area, we can expect to be carded even if we look 40. It's just natural not to go anywhere without a valid ID, and have it ready when they ask.

I don't get offended when I get carded for alcohol, but I really hate it when they card me for smokes. I look very young for a 34-year-old (clean-shaven, short hair, etc. -- see Rogue's), so I guess I can expect it. But when they don't card the person in front of me who appears 25 but is really 16 because he's an overweight slob with full facial growth, that tends to tick me off.

Oh bloody hell! Hope it doesnt happen around here. Otherwise i'll be joining the 16 year olds outside the off-license.

I remember when I first started drinking, I asked for a pint once and the barman said did I want a straw with that, started laughing, gave me a wink and then poured me one.
My mates were howling and I just went bright red.

I got IDd buying an Ice T album, I was 21.

I get ID'd loads  The Pitcher & Piano in Notts refused to serve me the other week because I had no ID on me. I'm 25 ffs, and they let me through the door when they were ID'ing other people. It's SO bloody annoying and it's not even as if I look really young. I'm always told "you should bring your driving license with you". They fail to realise that photo licenses weren't around when I passed my test because I'm TWENTY FIVE, and that it costs money to get my paper one replaced. I've started taking my passport out with me now.
