Can't wait to get my ID card!!!

It isn't, but saying "don't give the government all that data & power" is. They have pretty much all the data already & then some.

No they don't. They do not have dna, fingerprints or other biometric data in one large database.
This leaves the doors open for so many things from live/medical/car and any other insurance to criminal prosecution and everything in-between. They say they wont use it for that. But there is no guarantee and you have to remember it's not just this goverment, it's every goverment which follows and who knows what will follow.

No they don't, they have it for criminals and people who were arrested and not charged or found not guilty since 2001 in England and Wales, Scotland I believe gets rid of it even if your guilty after a period of time.

People are angry at it because why do they need it? Why are they trying to do with that database?

They can do a lot with that data, something which you can never really entrust to a government.

I still have no intention of buying one. Why should I. I have a passport and driving license that says and shows who I am. Unless they get me by the short and curlys im not buying something else to stick in my wallet for no reason.

Seriously. How ruddy long till were all tagged as well!
They'll probably start with - they're not compulsary and then slowly make it really really inconveniant not to have one.

I work airside at City Airport and whilst I don't mind having to have an ID Card as part of the trial, I hope it is free as stated on the BBC link as I have no intention of paying for it.

I can't see Labour winning the next election with Brown anyway. The Tories said they'd scrap ID cards, that alone gets my vote.

Don't worry, they will.

Maybe they will win the next election but I wouldn't be wholly surprised if they 'forgot' to pull the bill and just happened to let it pass - "whoops, administrative error, very sorry but now it is on the statute books and we've spent so much money it seems a shame to waste it". Hopefully I'm wrong and they will stick to their word but I'm not about to bet the farm on a politician doing what they said they would.

A news release when the world is still getting to grips with Obama and on the very same day that interest rates are slashed, classic Labour spin-mongery. They make me ******* puke.

People do not want ID cards and in the remote possibility that their medication was wearing off and they thought they might, they certainly wouldn't stop that deluded cow in the street and ask her for one. FFS!

I really want someone to kill her. I would consider being a matyr myself just to kill her.

She is so stupid it is unture, how the hell she holds a position of power is beyond me!

I am not voting Labour simply because of all of her hair brained liberty destroying tax wasting schemes.

I know it's a shallow and somewhat stupid thing to say, but i actually hate her face. It annoys me terribly.

According to their website the ID cards will cost £30 or less. Somehow I doubt it.

huh? Free you say?

It's bad enough having to pay more for a replacement passport, its cheaper to get a new one theoretically.

If these where to replace passports...for instance...would people have them then? If they replaced my passport with one, then fine...And if they replaced all NEW applications for a passport with this...then maybe I guess?
