Apparently Guus Hiddink has just said he'd like the job.
They shouldn't have accepted Capello's resignation then, if it wasn't the FA pushing for it in the first place. The situation was tenable and we have no better option. Especially 4 months before the start of a competition.I don't believe that there was an expectancy that Capello wouldn't be the manager until after the Euros, before the last week and I doubt there was any talks since. I'd be very surprised if Redknapp would walk away from Spurs before the summer.
And in actual fact, I think the press will go easier on Redknapp if he took the job just before the Euros as there's the ready made excuse of building for the future.

At the end of the day though the manager in charge will take the flack for wrong team selection/tactics on the day if that's Redknapp then suddenly that bright new future doesn't look as bright
Give it to someone on the short term then there's no expectation and no crucifixion when it all goes **** up
SSN saying Hiddink is interested in the job
I think it should be Sir Alex Ferguson with Gary Neville & Paul Scholes as his assistants.

The press love Redknapp
The press love Redknapp and there'd be no expectations at the euros. We're useless and Terry/Capello/The FA will get the blame if we're ****.
If there's no expectations then there's no need to rush him into the job is there. The best possible scenario for Redknapp is to start the job with a clean slate, that wont be the case if he's been at the helm following another drubbing at an International tournament.
There's also the small little thing of after the season he's had he's probably looking forward to a nice little holiday in the close season.
He was only saying it to get that News of the World reporter off his back.To think that all this has been bought about by a flippant comment by a footballer with an ego to big to admit he's made a mistake.
It's the see-saw effect and it started with Keegan.Just listening to Barry Fry with his 'We'll fight them on the Beaches' rant about the next England manager must be English and we need pride and passion and some other very noble stuff. Didn't we have that Lion Spirit with Pride and Passion with Keegan ???? What a car crash that was. Change at the FA is needed. Change is needed to invest and nurture talent at an early age. England Fans be careful what you wish for, you just might get it and be all so disappointed once again in three or four years time if you get 'Arry as the next manager
