Capital One Cup Semi-Final - 8/9/22/23 January *** Spoilers ***

Looks like the ball boy got kicked right in the ball, lucky he had it there really.
Don't know what some people are whingeing about either, it's always been a free kick for obstruction.

I give up.

Yes, he attempted to kick the ball but that was his mistake. Wether he meant to kick the kid is questionable but he was wrong to try and kick it from under him.

I'll say it again.. He intended to kick the ball, everyone will agree on that, and that's where he made the mistake.

How can anyone defend what he has done, even in the slightest? This isn't Sunday league football.

Its about time these players take responsibility for their actions and realise that they are being watched by millions around the world, their every move.

Frustration or not, and I'm not condoning what the ball boy did keeping the ball, but its up to the referee to add time on when things like that happen.

It seems the ball boy is the son of one of the Swansea directors. :p

It's a tough situation, the kid is clearly an idiot and is deliberately time wasting, but Hazard simply can't do what he did. It should have been left to the referee and Hazard shouldn't have gone near the boy.

I accept that he probably didn't want to hurt him, or even kick him. Also, the chances that it hurt are actually pretty slim, he didn't put any force into it, he was just trying to poke the ball out from under him.

No doubt we'll get an announcement of an FA 'investigation' at some point today, I think a long ban would be over the top, 3 games at most.

Similar kind of incident happened in a major tennis tournement (Wimbledon?) last year

player kicked a billboard in frustration which injured a line judge - player instantly forfeited the match

Ballboy was wrong for time-wasting, but Hazard shouldnt have even tried to get the ball off him in that manner either

Eden Hazard:

'The boy put his whole body onto the ball and I was just trying to kick the ball and I think I kicked the ball and not the boy. I apologise.

'The ball boy came in the changing room and we had a quick chat and I apologised and the boy apologised as well, and it is over. Sorry.'

Hard to believe that 10 years ago we were playing to avoid the drop in to non-league, and now we've just beaten the European champions to a cup final.

If you told me that then, I'd have collapsed with laughter :)

A deserved win and good luck for the final. :)

It will be on Sunday 24th February and I guess you and the whole town will be queuing up to get tickets. Don't miss the Wembley experience.

Nobody is defending what he has done. Was he wrong to do what he did ???? Of course but it wasn't premeditated as some people suggest nor did he set the Houses of Parliament on fire or strangle 100 kittens as some people would suggest with their vitriol

A silly thing to do in the heat of the moment, I doubt he intended to hurt him though. Kind of reminds me of when Henman was disqualified from Wimbledon for smashing a ball at a ball girl. It was clearly not intentional but just a silly thing to do.

I just seen the incident again and it's gets funnier. The lad's rolling around on the floor then looks up and shouts 'ref' :D

All that was missing is the imaginary card :p

Well I think Hazard should not have been sent off. I'd like to kick that boy so he knows what being kicked really is. It's infuriating watching players time waste. But when a ball boy does it?! WTF? They are the chosen ones that are trusted to do a simple job, and so he spreads himself over the entire ball clearly wasting time. That's bad enough, but to then fake injury as well from it. Cringe. Embarrassing to watch to be honest.

What a complete moron that boy is. He should be banned for life from doing that job ever again and it made clear to all ball boys never to do this. The poor refs have enough to sort out let alone managing how fast a ball boy throws a ball back. How utterly pathetic.

I think Swansea should be fined as a club for allowing a ball boy to be doing a job as a ball boy and wasting time like that as well.

Note: I do not support Chelsea and wanted Swansea to win! They did brilliantly. This is just one of those things that gets to me. I would say the same if any other team were employing ball boys that acted in the same way.

Supposedly this kid was saying he would time waste before the match on Twitter anyway I just read. Total muppet.

Is that about Hazard or the ball boy?

I've no sympathy, he brought it on himself and knew exactly what he was doing.

I hope he's pilloried, he should be wholly embarrassed about the whole thing.

Tell me he doesn't kick the kid.

Tell me the kid doesn't deserve it.

A ball boy who didn't time waste when their team is winning would probably get told off, like some footballers said it's all part of having the home advantage. Even if the ball boy hadn't time wasted the goalkeeper would have done anyway (slowly walking to opposite side of goal etc).

A couple of footballers have commented on how the kid 'milked it' and was acting, well perhaps now they'll see how embarrassing their play acting looks week in and week out.
