Have you read it? It's one step away from a casting couch! How misogynistic! And they've excluded all women of colour -how racist! Oh wait, maybe the way you look in the movie industry is important? But dare anyone mention the the way she looks and you're a racist sexist... if you're a white male...

What the whatting what are you wittering on about?

It's a body double, of course they're going to specify someone who is similar to the person they're standing in for, and for any submitted photos to approximate what they'll be expected to wear when shooting.

They've been doing something pretty similar for stunt performers for decades for much the same reason (you probably don't want someone who is built like Arnie to be the stunt double for Tom Cruise).

I'll be going to see this because of Avengers Endgame otherwise I'd wait for the BluRay or Sky. My misgivings are nothing to do with perceived SJW crap I'm more worried that she's going to be overpowered like Superman whom I have generally found to be an uncompelling character (in films) and that tends to make for rather forced plots. At this point in the Avengers cycle I really hope they don't bugger it all up by white knighting us with an under developed overpowered character.

I don't mind Brie Larson and will go and see this as long as they don't show her feet. Have you seen her feet?

Think they're referring to a picture of her at an awards show/movie launch - whilst the status of her feet have no bearing on anything to do with this film, they were rank :p.

They want somebody with a nice ass, because Brie has no ass

Surely it goes against her feminist values of being against objectifying women as sex objects because why should the shape of the characters ass matter ?

May be the comic character has a nice ass and this is just so it can be more closer to the source material? lol

Who cares? I doubt the takeaway from the movie will be her ass.

Who cares?

It's kind of the point, it should make no difference so why do they need someone with a cute ass to replace Brie's flat ass

It's ironic when it's a feminist being okay with it when it serves no purpose but for objectification especially when said feminist has been virtue signalling during promoting the film

In the original source material the first female Captain Marvel was black :D

Silliness aside, I don't think it's white-washing in this case because they appear to be basing the film on a much later blonde white version of Marvel from 2012, some 30 years after the 1982 black female version.

Google’d it....

What is seen, cannot be unseen

Rottern tomatoes "want to see" poll down to 28% . Looks like all this SJW stuff is taking its toll .. AS the saying goes. Get woke go broke...

I still think it'll do well as the "silent majority" of cinema goers just don't know or care about what Brie says, they'll just go to watch another Marvel movie but I do think that the amount finally made will be lower than Marvel initially wanted.

I also think, rightly or wrongly, that allowing the star to talk about wider issues whilst on a press tour, rather than sticking purely to the film as every other Marvel has done, will be a lesson Marvel will learn the hard way.

They aren't robots, they can try and control the discussion when on the press tour

Out of interest, what is the issue people had with this?

About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male. So, I spoke to Dr Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren’t getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren’t providing it, they all had different excuses.’
