*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

Had my car washed yesterday by the chap at work who said it was one of the easiest washes he'd had thanks to the ceramic coating, the dirt seemed to just rinse away. It looked brilliant, and then it rained. Now the car has dust spots all over it again after the rain drops all evaporated and left all the dust they were carrying.

Hey All

I popped to my local Halfords to grab a G3 Clay Mitt, my 530D is super dusty so going to give her a nice clean, guy there said I should jet wash then snow foam? I remember seeing people snow foam on dry cars to pull all the dirt off? Or am I dreaming this!?

Thanks Mart

G3 clay mitt is my go to for claying. I just use extra soapy car wash and go to town. Easy and efficient.

Yes snow foam direct, no rinse.

Had to park under a tree the other day and it dropped lots of sap and petals on my car. Can't motivate myself to wash it, just days after I gave her a deep clean. Doesn't help that all the local petrol stations have taken their jet wash areas away, as I can't park directly outside my place. Albanian car was tomorrow it is then

I'm buying a DA to restore my wife's car with the compound/polish and wax. My own car the paintwork is pretty excellent being much newer apart from feeling a bit gritty due to fall out. It doesn't really even need a polish, am I fine to go through the cleaning and fallout wash, clay towel and just apply the wax with the DA? Or am I best to use the polish as well first?

Anyone used aliexpress to buy bits and pieces, I could do with a selection of brushes, but balk at paying the detailing costs for them.

Only thing is I have no idea if they’re just going to be absolute junk.

I got my MJJC foam cannon from there. No problem whatsoever and best price.

I also got quick release nozzles (the different coloured ones) and were no good as my pressure washer is too strong for them. My own fault though for not checking. So, free to a good home if anyone wants them.

All delivered within 5 working days.

Just wondering whether anyone here has any experience of getting rid of the smell of cigarette smoke from a car with a cloth interior? I bought it in December 2022, and because it was freezing cold that day, I didn’t notice. It was only months later when the weather started to warm up that smell became apparent. I’ve taken the car to a commercial car wash a few times and had a mini valet, tried using a few sprays, car shampoos that I’ve picked up from Halfords, but it still persists.

Are there any products anyone could recommend to try and get rid of it? I’ve not been too bothered about it as it was a 2nd car, and hasn’t really seen much use, but I’m looking to sell it on and downsize, so I’d like to sort it if I can.

Cheers!

Extremely difficult - good luck! A car I just purchased has the same issue. Couldn't smell it at all on the test drive (had just been cleaned) but noticed it very soon on the drive home a week later

Anyway, I highly recommend this product - I used it years ago on a previous car. Unfortunately I can no longer get it shipped to the EU (if anyone finds it elsewhere that does - please let me know!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Car-Odour-Remover-Airvidox-Cigarette/dp/B076HBYDSD

Also change the cabin filter
