You'll want to wash the car after claying really. Also consider doing a chemical decon first with an iron remover otherwise you will cause marring with the claybar. Get yourself some more edgeless towels to buff as well. After a couple of panels you'll need a clean one, or if you drop it you can't carry on until you wash it.

really ?

I'm following the instruction video for that particular clay lube

oh and i don't have fall out remover, this is the only opptunity i have before the winter really

dont have a machine to polish , doing it by hand

I've always done a quick single bucket wash after claying. Doesn't have to be a mega wash as the car will be pretty clean already and the car will be polished afterwards anyway. Would like a DA polisher as I still polish by hand, too. Also want a pressure washer as well, but the old BMWs keep wanting new parts so all the detailing toys get pushed back!

E46 has its long overdue MOT on Wednesday, so I'd like to give that a wash as it'll need all the help it can get. Need to find the time after work tomorrow.

Forensic Detailing released a video today about the disappearance of a cheap Turtle Wax product I liked - Dry & Shine. I remember that stuff was still going strong on the lower half of my car after three months of salt/rain and weekly washes. All I did to apply it was spray and rinse. It was half the price of Seal & Shine at one point. Current go to is Bouncers Done & Dusted SI, which doesn't last anywhere near as long, but really easy to use and a good finish. I think that entire company may have ceased making new products, so I'll have to find an alternative to that as well. Could return to Wet Coat, I suppose.

Our Valeter came today, he cleaned all the leather.. but the steering wheel left some sticky black residue on his cloths.
And now the steering wheel looks dull and worn with whitish patches.

What's the best product I can use to fix it?

Any basic black leather treatment?

He made a video of it if anyone wants a gander

my bm the only part with non pu, genuine, leather is the wheel and the gear-knob
the amount of dirt that comes off the wheel onto usually white cloth is surprising - leathermaster protection cream is what I use ..
same stuff we use on the genuine suite, would be nice if the car seats felt the same.

I don't fancy paying out what a detailer costs every month. He charges £40 inside and out and does a great job.
I didn't ask him to rectify, I simply said I'd handle it.

If the black stuff isn't dirt, it could be dye from the wheel, which is a bit of an issue... have you got pics? Are you sure its not just clean and matte-looking - rather than shiny. A lot of people seem to think leather should be shiny.

Oh ita definitely the dye. His cloth went black and it clearly looks like colour has come off the wheel.

Interesting, the factory colour doesn't tend to come off easily, so perhaps someone has dyed it in the past. You can try and dye it again, but it may be easier to get a Royal Steering Wheels retrim... it'll be nicer too.
