Carling Cup and PL ganes, 14th to 20th *SPOILERS*

Well I am disappointed that Man U didn't win. That was never a penalty but City deserved the second goal.

The last few minutes of the game were great to watch, very tense stuff. Look forward to the second leg at OT.

I'll be more confident with Vidic and Wes, Right Back I just don't know anymore...

Berba back please too.

O'Shea seemed to be playing very well there?

I would consider United's full strength lineup to be Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand and O'Shea.

But then Hargreaves has also played well in that position, can't see him wanting it on a permanent basis though.

Thing that really boils my pee about this game is Fergie's stubbornness. From the moment Owen came on you could see more of a connection with Rooney than at any time with Berbatov.

Result wise meh Open top busses in Moss Side and Stockport till next week. Nothing wrong with the Tevez celebration, I would not have expected anything less from him

Its so frustrating, Rooney and Owen have ALWAYS played well together, you could see in the first minutes of the match City were all over the place at the back, and he STILL wouldnt put another striker on.

i think owen should start more with rooney, im sorry but they CAN play together pretty well, the only thing thats frustrating is his age, and i think thats the reason he does not play him as much as he knows he will be gone soon enough

Very good point, I forgot about O'Shea and yes O'Shea/Wes is what I'd be happy with at RB.

EDIT: I read an interview where Fergie said that Owens compettition was Wayne Rooney, therefore to play, it would be in Rooneys position, which we all know wont happen..

Blimey the Man U hate is strong here today, good game of footy cant wait till the next leg TBH. Still think Utd will win by a couple of goals, but will be another good game. Hope villa rovers will give us a good game of football, would like to see Villa go through.

Totally agree and we are seriously missing Ferd and Vid.

I agree. The next leg we've got to start with both of them.

Anderson didn't do nothing for me today. Lined up to be main support for Rooney and didn't provide it.

Still fuming over the 'Penalty' decision. Shocking.

Agreed, I do think Wes has been OK at the back in recent times at CB.

Rafael I can't decide, his tackling is poor but I like him.

Same. I think it's age with him. He's certainly capable and I can see him making the position his own in years to come.

Do you happen to know what the deal is with O'Shea? He's not played for quite a while.

I'd go for the throat in the second leg.

VdS
Brown - Vidic/Ferd - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Tosic
Rooney - Owen/Berba

I say Vidic/Ferd as I don't know if either will be fit, but i'm assuming at least one will be. If we have both available, play them and put Evans on the bench.

Rafael plays a bit like evra did when he first arrived, a bit too quick to fly in, and too eager to get forward and getting caught out of position.

He has great potential though..

EPIC game. Disappointed with Utd's defeat; I think City were quite lucky (+Tevez's and Bellamy's usual work rate) considering who was pressing more. Utd really missing that solid defence. ANd I still don't like Rafel, he got owned by Bellamy today and I just see him as a liability pulling shirts, high boots, pressing a bit too much. Rooney was godly of course.

That was probably the most shambolic refereeing performance I have ever seen:

-Penalty never a penalty, despite Dean's best efforts to justify it
-Yellow card for the 'foul' by Rafael yet no yellow for Tevez studding Brown in the knee or, even worse, Bellamy raking his studs down Valencia's shin
-Completely inconsistent application of the advantage rule in City's favour
-Dean turning a blind eye to timewasting by City players yet rushing to book VdS at the penalty

And that's just what I can remember off the top of my head! Truly shocking.
